bundle of joy

This cute image is from Anna Wight’s newest unmounted set, Bundle of Joy by Whipper Snapper. All of the images are sooo cute….I couldn’t choose which to use first! I finally decided that I’d hang this one from the moon. The strings were hand drawn. I also wanted a star shaped embellishment and spied some felt flowers that I purchased from JoAnn’s. The purple-ish one was the perfect color so I cut the petals into points and voila~ a star!
I started this card by matching colors to the designer paper. Almost Amethyst and Celery were a perfect match. I always have a hard time pairing colors up with Almost Amethyst so I was surprised at how much I liked this color combo.

Penny in polka-dots

Penny is one stylin’ chick in this polka-dotted swimsuit! ;) She is one of my favorites of Anna Wight’s images! I started out wanting to put the words (computer generated) in a circle around her and adding stripes to make it look like a life preserver. But as luck would have it, the colors were not coming together as planned and I messed two of them up while cutting them out. I don’t know why I tried using my Fiskars circle cutter. At that point I gave up and cut layers for the other 2 with the Coluzzle.

alcohol posies and twigs

I made two more cards with my Whipper Snapper stamps. The first one is with Anna Wight’s Twigs. I love this snowy face! He has been sitting on my desk for months and I finally made a card with him! I thought the patterned paper was perfect for Mr. Twigs, so I drew my colors from there. I finished him just in time- we are getting more snow tonight!

paper- watercolor paper, Cranberry, Buckaroo, Chatterbox dp
ink- Black, Caramel, Cranberry, Buckaroo, Pumpkin
accessories- button, linen thread

The second card was made with Anna’s Posies For You set and alcohol inks. I also used the Swiss Dots embossing folder again. ;) Since I had a whole sheet of glossy white and the alcohol inks out, I decided to make more than one of this card. You can see in the thumbnail picture that I started by stamping the roses several times on the glossy white cardstock. Then I applied drops of 3 different colors of ink & the solution onto the felt applicator. The whole sheet was randomly covered with ink and the roses were highlighted with markers.

After the ink from the markers dried well, the roses were cut out with the Coluzzle oval shape. Then I glued them to the gray cardstock and cut them out with scallop scissors. Dots were applied with a white gel pen and it was attached over the ribbon with pop dots. Extra flowers were punched from the left-over cardstock and Stickles was added to the centers.

basket of tulips

I pulled out Anna Wight’s “Spring Has Sprung” stamp set last night and this time I used the basket and tulips for the main image. The corners of the pink patterned paper were punched with a trumpet flower corner punch and I inserted a photo corner in the top left to bring out the design a bit. The tulips were highlighted with a glitter pen.

OK, so when I sat down last night to make my card (yes, I waited till the last minute…heehee) this was just torture because I had just received my new Cuttlebug embossing folders in the mail! Waaahhhh! That’s my luck! I knew that I wanted to use this stamp of Anna’s….it is one of my favorites! I just love this girl looking up at the humongous flower! And I decided that I also wanted to case a DD. Well………this post should really have been titled “A Bad Case of Zindorf”! LOL. Her creations are just gorgeous! And I failed miserably. :( I tried to case her layout and the gorgeous pink sky that she created here. Isn’t that card just awesome? First I stamped the image and then I stamped it again on 3 post-it notes. Wow- this image is huge! I was pleasantly surprized at the size when I received it! I cut out and masked the girl, flower and leaves. Then I brayered the sky with Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose. Let’s just say I need a LOT more practice! I don’t know if you can see it, but I stamped a small flower from Anna’s Spring Has Sprung set along the left side of the card base. It matches the main image perfectly!
You can check out all of this month’s challenge cards here.
The sun is trying to come out this morning. Let’s hope it is sunny today! I’m ready for Spring! Have a great day!

BoPeep’s sampler

Just having some more fun with Anna’s BoPeep’s Sheep set! I wanted to make a sampler and I originally thought of using a variety of cardstock colors for each square. Well….I guess I got carried away when I was stamping the images onto the white cardstock and never pulled out those other colors. But I think I like it just as well this way if not better. I started out by cutting up my stamped images and arranging / re-arranging them to fit the cardstock base. It really isn’t very difficult. There was a little space left which I decided to just fill in with some eyelets. I have been on a watercolor crayon kick lately and I tried to keep my watercolors in the earth tones but still make it “Springy”. When the coloring was all finished and the pieces were glued in place, I debated on adding some glitter but I think I will leave it as it is.

2 new sets!

Yay! Today Whipper Snapper released 2 new sets of Anna Wight’s designs! And they are cute, cute, cute! The titles are Spring Has Sprung and BoPeep’s Sheep and they’re just in time for spring stamping.

This first card was made with the Spring Has Sprung set. Isn’t the bunny just TOO CUTE? I thought he looked like he needed a snack, and it looks like he wants to share. ;) I stamped one carrot in his left hand and then I stamped a second carrot on scrap paper and cut it out. Then I carefully cut around his right hand and arm with a craft knife and tucked the carrot underneath. I added a tiny bit of shimmer to the carrots and the flower with a glitter pen.

The second card I made with the BoPeep’s Sheep set. I originally planned to use BoPeep but then I decided that her sheep would make a cute baby card!

bopeeps-sheep-1-dmz.jpg

I started with the normal 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock. Then I scalloped one end with a corner rounder. I wanted this to be the back of the card so I made the scallops before I scored the card’s fold. Then I placed the scallops against the left side of my Scor-Pal and scored my 4 1/4″ mark. After I had my fold, I trimmed the cardfront down a little more so the scallops would show when closed.
If you look closely, you can see the texture on the sheep’s body. I applied some white liquid applique in a circular motion and then heated it with a heat embossing tool. If you watch it closely while heating, you can overheat it just slightly and it will start to turn brown. I think the sheep looks good when he’s just a tiny bit “dirty”! I stamped one of the chicks on the bottom and added some buttons and satin stars. I found the stars in a little package at Jo-Ann’s. And to finish it off, I punched some holes in the scallops and added some doodling.

Anna’s roses

I wasn’t quite sure how this card would evolve, but I liked how it turned out! I knew that I wanted to put Anna’s roses inside of my Cuttlebug heart so that’s where it started. The die actually cuts 3 hearts at once so I made use of all three, and added different gel pen accents to each one. When searching for ribbon, I decided to add the pink polka-dotted one and tried a different way of placing it on the cardfront. It still seemed to have quite a bit of white space but I didn’t want to add any more paper, so I pierced holes around the outside and also outlining the middle heart. The roses and butterfly were painted with Twinkling H2O’s.

truffles for you

I am still having fun with Anna’s set, Posies For You! I love all of the pieces in it…especially the little truffle! Yum! What??…..Your set doesn’t have a truffle in it? Sure it does! Look closely…..
I masked and inked the bottom of the bucket for the truffles and then used the large rose for the top. ;) Does it look like a truffle? I really want to get Anna’s image of 3 truffles, but in the meantime I improvised and created my own. Sometimes it’s fun to think “outside the box” and see what you can create. Try it!
This was created with Beate’s fun sketch which can be found here. I used Twinkling H2O’s to watercolor the truffles and I added Stickles for a little extra sparkle.

sunflowers & blog candy!

These sunflowers just make me smile! As I was finishing this card, it just needed a little something. The main image was too bare. After I added the button & partial circle I realized that I was inspired by this card of Anna’s that I saw earlier! The button filled in the bare spot just right.
Now…about the cookie crumbs (blog candy)……I have an extra Posies For You set to give away! :)
If you would like a chance to receive Anna’s first unmounted set, Posies For You, then all you need to do is comment on this post and tell me which of Anna’s stamps is your favorite! I will hold this open until Saturday and on Sunday I will use the random number generator to pick a winner. Don’t forget to add your name. I won’t be able to choose an anonymous post! ;)
