Baby’s First Christmas paper bag album

bfc-album-cover-diane-zechman.jpgMy friend invited me to stamp recently and she said that she needed to make a baby shower gift.  Well, that was just a perfect theme for me too because I am overdue with a gift for a shower that I was unable to attend.  My friend suggested we make a paper bag album and I came up with the “Baby’s First Christmas” theme since it is getting close to the holiday and I had these *cute* Rachelle Anne Miller stamps that I was eager to use.  Rachelle’s images are just adorable and perfect for a baby theme!

I started out by machine stitching the binding on the bags (we used 3 lunch size bags).  I also machine stitched the main image to the layer on the front cover.  All of the other stitches you see are faux stitching with a Micron pen or a gel pen.  This was a fun project to create together because we could share our dies, punches, papers and embellishments!  Of course, we didn’t get it all done in one night but we got everything stamped, punched and laid out.  I did all of the coloring, glueing and finishing touches later.  I decided not to stamp any words on the tags, etc. so that the recipient could personalize it however they want as they add their own photos of this joyful Christmas holiday.

*Just a note- the Rachelle Anne Miller images, along with the Cuttlebug and Nestabilities can be found at All That Scraps.  And right now Christine has the Limited Edition Holiday folders on sale so go check ‘em out!

Here are pics of the pages inside:

my prince charming

my-prince-charming-box-diane-zechman.jpgThe Rachelle Anne Miller animal images at Stampavie are just darling…I love them!  Here I used the image called My Prince Charming to decorate a little gift box.  And I paired it with two of the flower images from the Dream Flowers backgrounds to stamp some coordinating tissue paper in pink and green.

The box is a wedding favor box that I picked up in a pack at the Dollar Tree store a few years ago.  I’m not sure if they still carry this type of box though.  Recently when I was in there, I noticed a different style of box in it’s place.  The entire image was painted with Shimmerz paints and really sparkles in person.  Part of the reason why I chose this image for the box was the fact that I only have a few colors of the Shimmerz and wanted to try them out.  LOL.  I also painted the Prima flowers….you can see a bit of the Shimmer in the photo.  I wish it would capture the true effect.  I love the look of the painted Primas and will definitely be doing that again!

Time For Apple Pie

time-for-apple-pie-1-diane-zechman.jpgThis card was made with another sweet Sarah Kay image called Time For Apple Pie.  It will soon be released at Stampavie (date not yet determined).  The title alone makes me hungry.  LOL.  Mmmm…I can almost taste it.

I found my retired SU! stencil with an apple in it and decided to use it to frame the little girl.  I started by stamping the image and laying the stencil over top.  Then I sponged the color around the edges, being careful to avoid the main image.  After the stencil was removed, I colored it with Copic markers and doodled around the edges.

The top of the card was embossed with the Cuttlebug Just My Type button border and I pierced some holes between the rows.  Then I got out my sewing machine for some wacky stitches around the patterned paper

Hoo Hoo There!

hoo-hoo-there-1-diane-zechman.jpgYes, I know….I said I didn’t have a pic for today…well…I changed my mind.  LOL.  I finished up this card and thought I’d share.  This is one of my favorite Rachelle Anne Miller images!  It is called Hoo Hoo There!  Those owls are just adorable, aren’t they?

This card was inspired by the image on the Stampavie Design Team blog.  When I saw this QuicKutz Flourish die, I knew I had to use it with this image!  The image was colored with Copic markers, cut out with some Oval Nestabilities and nestled into the “branches”.  A pink heart was cut with a Cuttlebug die and then embossed with the Argyle folder, outlined with Stickles glitter and tucked into a corner made with one of the CB Vintage dies.

Cute Kitty

cute-kitty-1-diane-zechman.jpgYay!  My Rachelle Anne Miller stamps arrived!  I couldn’t decide which one to stamp first (they are all so yummy!) so I closed my eyes and picked one.  LOL.  This image is called Lily- Cute Kitty.  First I decided to make a gray kitty and then I chose the color of her dress to go with the gray.  I like pink and yellow together so my card evolved from there.  I was short on time to create this so I went with an old stand-by layout that I love to use when I don’t have time to think!  This is one of Michelle Wooderson’s layouts and starts with a 4×4 square of patterned paper.  I chose some sparkly pink paper by Die Cuts With a View.  The machine stitching looks black in the photo but it is really more of a chocolate brown.

I hope your week is going better than mine….it has just been crazy here.  But I should be back tomorrow with another card I made.

And please check my blog candy winner below…I don’t have any contact info for you!  If you sent me a message and I haven’t received it, please reply to my post.  Otherwise, I will need to choose another winner.  Thanks.

help from Margot

help-from-margot-diane-zechman.jpgJust a quick post today with another Stampavie card.  This image is called A Little Help From Margot.  It is so sweet and I thought it would be great for a thank-you card.  The words are from the C.C. Designs sentiment set

I used a dark brown thread for the machine stitching on this card.  And I found the fake dew drops in the clearance bin at Michael’s.  :0)

You can check out more Sarah Kay cards on the Stampavie DT blog.  Have a great day!

Fanny’s Cuddle

fannys-cuddle-1-diane-zechman.jpgThis Sarah Kay image is so sweet!  My first thought was to give the little girl some red shoes….so the card evolved from there.  I colored her dress blue and yellow so the shoes would still be eye-catching.  Every girl (young & old) needs a pair of red shoes!  (hmmm….I may need to look for some)  ;)  Two new Cuttlebug embossing folders were used here.  The Frills border was used on the bottom of the card and Leafy Branch on the red layer.  And I used the Sizzix Picket Fence die on the background as well.  The words “You make my heart happy” are from the C.C. Designs sentiment set.  I thought it was perfect for this image!

Margaux is painting

margaux-is-painting-1-diane-zechman.jpgLast night I got my sewing machine out and did a little stitching.  It’s been a while since I’ve done that!  I seem to go in spurts so you will probably see a few stitched cards before I put it away again.  On this one I used the Sarah Kay stamp called Margaux is Painting.  She is such a cutie creating on her easel!  Once again I colored her with the Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.

This card is larger than I normally make.  I found a pack of 5×7 cards stashed away in my drawer.  The pretty designer paper is by The Paper Company and I hated to turn over such a large chunk of it to the plain side so I turned the top corner down a bit.  At least you can see a tiny bit of the pattern on that piece.  LOL.  The ribbons were a gift from my friend Tracy (thanks, Tracy- I finally used some!).  The pink heart is a Sizzix die and it’s hard to see but I embossed it with tiny hearts (Cuttlebug).

I hope your Monday is a good one!  Check back in a day or two….I have another Sock Monkey card that I will share.  :0)

cherished moments

precious-moments-2-diane-zechman.jpgI hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  Are you watching the Olympics?

Today I’ll share another card I made with the Sarah Kay Precious Moments image.  This time I used some Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie papers…I love those prints!  They just have a warm, happy feel to them!  The combination of the sweet image and cute papers just makes me happy.  I hope you like it too!
This image was colored the same as the one on this card with Prismas and Gamsol.  It was not stamped on watercolor paper though, so it has more of a white background rather than the creamier color of the watercolor paper.

This image and more can be found at Stampavie.  If you check out the website, you will see some fun new images for Christmas coming soon!

Precious Moments

precious-moments-1b-diane-zechman.jpgThis card was made with another sweet Sarah Kay image by Stampavie called Precious Moments.  I love the little chicks with the girl and I just got some cute paper that goes perfectly with this image so I can’t wait to make another card with her!  On this one I used some cute paper by Fancy Pants.  The pink border was punched with SU’s new scallop border punch and then embossed in the Cuttlebug with the Floral Fantasy embossing folder.  I added some doodling with both a brown marker and a white gel pen.  Then I finished it off with some Primas and Liquid Pearls.
