a Halloween challenge

hc-haunted-house-diane-zechman.jpgHello!  I’ve been busy this week getting ready for another upcoming gathering, so I haven’t had a chance to post much lately.  Sorry!

I wanted to pop in today, though, to remind you that it’s time for another challenge at Stampavie!  You can check out the details here.  I hope you can play along and try to win another great prize!

The new challenge today is to make a Halloween card.  This one is really a challenge since it requires you to think outside the box a bit, but I know you can do it!

This is what I came up with.  I used the oh-so-cute Helz Cuppleditch Home Sweet Home image.  I love that sweet house and almost hated to make it ummm…not-so-sweet!  LOL.

The background was created first with a brayer and a spectrum inkpad.  Then I colored the house in shades of gray.  The heart window on the door was turned into a pumpkin decoration and the topiary trees were cut off, leaving only the pots which I turned into tombstones!

The diecuts are from the Cuttlebug Halloween die and the words are from my Ollie and Griselda set.

Here’s a closeup of the image that was altered.

I hope you have a great start to your week….thanks for stopping by!

a Sarah Kay stationary set

Hi all!  I hope your week is going well.  The leaves are turning fall colors and the air is getting cooler….I love this time of year!

Tonight I thought I’d share the rest of a gift I made.  This altered stationary set was made to give with my altered jewelry box I posted on Monday.  I thought the dotted dp on the jewelry box went well with the gorgeous paper this set was already covered in.  I found this stationary set a few months ago in a Burlington Coat Factory store.  I loved it but knew it would be even prettier altered!

Each piece in this set had an image of a black dress on it.  So I stamped the same Sarah Kay Spring Is Back image several times and covered up all those dresses.  Here’s the set all together in the box.

sk-boxed-set-3-diane-zechman.jpg

A close up of the box front…

Here I changed the image and added some Primas, ribbon, and pearls.  The Primas weren’t an exact color match, so I touched them up with a bit of color from my Copic marker.

sk-boxed-set-4-diane-zechman.jpg

Inside there is a set of 6 notecards.  The main image was covered up and I added some ribbon bows…easy peasy!  Then I also stamped the image on the envelopes to coordinate.

sk-boxed-set-1-diane-zechman.jpg

The set also included a journal and notepad.  I only added the image, ribbon and some pearls to the small notepad.  On the larger journal I also placed a sentiment and attached a ribbon with charms to mark the page.

I hope this brings a smile to the recipient!

Stampavie’s box challenge

sk-jewelry-box-diane-zechman.jpgHappy Monday!

It’s time again for another Stampavie challenge.  Have you participated in any yet?  You will be entered to win a great prize if you do!  Check out the details here.

This time Jay Jay challenged us to create a little box.  I needed a box for a necklace, so that was what I decided to make.  My original plan was to create a little matchbox to place it in, but then I remembered that I had some little boxes tucked away that some jewelry was purchased in at one time or another.  So I figured it would be better to re-use/re-cycle for this project.

I started with a scrap of Making Memories polka-dotted paper and adhered it to the lid.  Then I finished off the edge with some ribbon.  I found another wider ribbon that matched pretty well and attached it to the box bottom.  Then I colored the Sarah Kay Spring Is Back image and cut it out with Nestabilities.  I tucked a few Prima flowers underneath and glued it to the box lid.  I finished it off with a few pink pearls and a button.

Here’s a close up of the sweet Sarah Kay image:

I hope you can play along with the challenge!  Boxes are so much fun to create!

Have a great week!

an autumn anniversary

tw-mice-couple-diane-zechman.jpgOh, what a weekend it was.  Let’s just say that I don’t understand why people choose to drink and drive!  grrr.  Can we fast forward to Monday?  LOL.

I didn’t get very much done this weekend….I just don’t have the energy or mojo when I’m stressed.  But tonight I took a much needed stamping break and made this card.  I thought this image would be perfect for an Autumn Anniversary!

I didn’t use the entire image….I only colored the main part and cut it out.  You can see the whole stamp here

This card started out by using up some scraps I had lying around.  The Guava frame, black layer and dp leaves were all scraps leftover from previous projects.  I really need to clean out scraps again and just throw some things away!

The leaves are from the EK Success Falling Leaves border punch.  It was also used on the white layer underneath the main image.

I hope this week goes better!  And I hope you have a good week too!  Be sure to check out the samples at ATS this week…the sneaks for the October sets start on Tuesday!

This will be one of my Christmas card designs this year.  I get bored making more than about 10 of each design, so I’ll be sharing more later.  LOL.

Have a great Wednesday!

a promise made & the getaway car!

This summer I needed several wedding cards and here are the two designs I came up with.

I made about 3 or 4 of this first card a few months ago but haven’t posted it yet ’cause I didn’t want one of my readers to see it.  ;0)

a promise made….I love that sentiment!

to-have-and-to-hold-diane-zechman.jpg

Here’s a close up of the rings.  They were attached with rolled glue dots.  It’s too hard to read in this picture but “I Love You” is inscribed in the one with the diamond.  It’s so sweet!  Sorry…I tried hard to get a better pic.

And here is a side view so you can see how the layers were popped.

Here’s my second wedding card….it is very similar in colors and papers.

The Getaway Car….

This is such a fun image by Stampavie!  It is called Wedding Squirrels and is from the Tina Wenke collection

I couldn’t resist using another piece of that same dp when I saw it had the words “The Getaway Car” on it!  How perfect.

tw-wedding-squirrels-diane-zechman.jpg

The image was colored with Copics and I used chalks on the ground and sky for a softer appearance.

Some pearl stickers in the Prima flowers helped to “dress” this one up.  And I added the EK Success Parisian border along the bottom.  Love that punch!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

stamps- SU! To Have & To Hold; paper- PTI White, SU! Basic Gray, Flair Designs; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Cuttlebug Just My Type, Copics, Oval Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Lattice punch, Dress It Up Wedding Rings, glue dots, pop dots.

second card:

EDIT:  I have had several questions about where to purchase the paper and rings.  I bought both of them at my local Ben Franklin store.  I did a quick search and found the paper here and the rings are here (this one is ebay).  I have never purchased from either of these venders before…I just found the links to help in your search.  Good luck and thanks for your comments.  :0)

a Stampavie challenge and a sketch

Hi all!  It’s time once again for…

stampavie-challenge-logo-450x200.jpg

Today Jay Jay issued a color challenge.  We were to use the colors yellow, orange and red.

With the approaching fall season, I immediately thought of the beautiful fall leaves that we will soon see on the trees here in PA.  So I found this cute Tina Wenke image called Opossum Pals and decided to turn it into an autumn tree.

tw-fall-leaves-ty-diane-zechman.jpg

I cut and embossed the accent leaves with some Spellbinders dies and then sponged them with ink while they were still in the die.  Your fingers tend to get a bit messy this way but it is so worth it, I think!  I was wishing later that I had spritzed some color on as well…maybe next time!

As I was creating this card, I thought that it might make a nice sketch to share.  So I made one up quick….I’d love to have you play along!  If you use my sketch, post a link back here and I’ll pick a winner on Sunday to send a little somethin’!  :0)

Here you go…don’t feel limited by the leaves!  They are only meant to be an accent….you can use flowers, buttons, etc. …whatever you imagine!

sketch-7-diane-zechman.jpg

Don’t forget to check out the Stampavie challenge here and enter to win a great prize!

I’m off to enjoy the day…today is our anniversary!  But we will be spending it with a bunch of teenagers having a pool party here.  LOL.  Good times!
