I did a lot of doodling on this card.  The doodling around the main image was done to mimick the balloon strings.

There’s a lot going on today…hopefully later I will have another sample for the ATS release tonight!  But first I want to share the card and sketch I made for the new Stampavie challenges.

With a few days of nice spring weather lately, I couldn’t help but to use Rachelle Anne Miller’s image called Lily- Springtime!  She makes you feel happy just looking at her!

I have always thought that this Inky Antics image was cute!  The little critters on the mushroom rooftop just make me smile!  :0)  A few months ago I purchased the Sizzix Caterpillar die and it seemed to go well with the image so I knew I wanted to work it into the card somehow.  I tried to use a marker and dot him some eyes but it just didn’t look right.  Sometimes those little mess-ups make the card better in the end though.  I remembered that I had some teeny tiny wiggly eyes….and they fixed it up perfectly!  Then I used a black marker to color the antennae and the tips of his feet.  The sentiment is from the C.C. Designs Sentiment Set.  You can’t tell in the pic, but there’s Stickles on the ladybug’s wings!  I also added Stickles to the dots on the roof and the center of the flower.

Yea!  It’s Friday!  And today I am sharing a sketch for you to try.  This is my second card with the Sarah Kay images from Stampavie and I am loving them!  I started out with this sketch in mind.  I was in the car one day, waiting for someone, and doodled a few sketches.  So I decided to use this one for my challenge today.  The dotted paper was chosen first because I was looking for something with a small pattern, knowing it would get mostly covered.  I have a hard time covering up those pretty papers!  Then I chose a nice contrasting color for the card base.  Next I was digging through my ribbons and found this one which I love and completely forgot I had!  It all came together from there.     

Cutting the main image wasn’t too difficult…I don’t have any tricks to tell you.  Just cut a slant and use the first cut as a guide for cutting the second side.  Then adjust it to fit the card.

The My ABC’s wheel was the first thing I bought from the new catalog. I still haven’t used it for it’s intended purpose, though…LOL! Here’s my first card where I used it to make a road. Now I decided to make a masculine card and use it for a plaid background. The wheel was repeated both vertically and horizontally to make the plaid design.
I also loved Jami’s paper-pieced boat and was anxious to try one myself. Paper-piecing is such fun and it’s been a while since I’ve done this technique. Just stamp the image onto cardstock, and then again onto patterned paper. Cut the patterned pieces out and layer onto the cardstock. Easy-peasy! I also cut the large smoke cloud out and layered it on. The smaller 2 clouds were made with a white gel pen and when they were dry I outlined them with a black marker to match the large cloud…..I love how they turned out! I also used the white gel pen on the life preservers. A red & green marker were used to highlight areas that were not paper-pieced. And I just had to add some doodled lines. “sharon in ne” noticed the little heart on my doodle in my last card with Anna’s kitty. I liked how that little heart accidentally popped into a card recently so now I have a hard time not putting one on….it’s like a little signature design I guess. LOL.

Wow…it’s been a busy summer Saturday! I haven’t had a chance to upload my cards for today’s challenges until now and it’s getting late! Where did the day go?

This first card I actually made a few months ago and never got around to uploading on SCS. So I knew when I decided to do a sketch challenge what my design would be! If you are a fan-clubber, then you can view my sketch challenge as well as the other challenges for today here.

On this card, I reversed one of the girls by stamping her on clear acetate, flipping it over and stamping her again (overlapping the flowers). Stazon ink works great on acetate. I colored them with Sharpie markers and paper pieced the dress on one girl. You need to color with the Sharpies carefully, trying to avoid the Stazon ink because the Sharpie markers will draw the black into the color. To paper piece the dress, just stamp the image again on the patterned paper, cut the dress out & attach it to the girl. Then I layered the acetate over a piece of white cs. The flower brads hold it together so there’s no need for adhesive on the acetate.  Here’s the card:

shhhh………don’t tell Sherry, but I cheated on her challenge! LOL. I had the main image laying around unfinished from a stamping session with a friend. I used a slightly different method but I got the same results as Sherry’s challenge instructions, so I thought I’d share it anyway.
I stamped the motif in Orange and applied Crackle Accents dimensional glue. It made the color bleed out and also changed it to a Pumpkin color. I got the dimensional glue from an LSS, but I’m sure if you google it you should be able to find it.
The swirls were embossed with a pretty EP that came from Sparkle & Sprinkle. I love Margaret’s embossing powders!

Jen’s challenge was perfect timing….I was given some samples of bright colored cardstock to design a card for some ladies at our church to make. I doubt they ever stamped before, so I needed to keep it fairly simple. I think we will use colored pencils on the image and I will give them the option to add the extra pen-stitching and doodling. Using the bold, bright colors is a bit out of my comfort zone but it sure makes a cheery card! I need to try them more often!
