a few thank you’s

Good morning! I mentioned before that we (our local stampers) had a shoebox event in the beginning of November. We all get together to swap and make each other’s projects….such a fun day! We had several companies that were generous and sent products for door prizes so I wanted to make special thank you cards for each of them. I already shared the card I made for Art Impressions. Here’s the rest of them…

The first one was for Unity Stamp Company, using Lil’ Smartie Pants. Love that bird! I put Crystal Effects on his glasses. I also used the Stitched Arch Stax dies by MFT. The paper is Pebbles- Garden Party.

The next one was for Gina K. , using her fabulous Wreath Builder set. So fun to create with! Her stencil works great the MISTI!

Here’s one for MFT with a retired image that I still love…Because You’re Special from the Pure Innocence line. I also used their Stitched Rectangle Frames and Blueprints 20 dies.

This card was for Paper Smooches. I love the snowy guy from Warm Hearts! It’s fun and easy to create CAS cards with Paper Smooches!

This cutie is called Bunny Balloon (which also may be retired) and was for Whimsy Stamps. I also used MFT’s Stitched Scallop Basic Edges and Taylored Expressions’ grateful die.

Many thanks again to these great sponsors! It truly helped make our event a success!

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a masculine card using the Ai Birthday Whoot Set (4125).  I don’t make enough masculine cards so this was a different change of pace!

The owls in the Whoots sets are so cute…I think I need some more!  It is super easy to paper piece them in fun patterns.  I then popped the owl up to give it some dimension.

I hope you are inspired to make some masculine cards too.  Have a great day and… happy stamping!

to go, please

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with this card using one of my favorite Ai People… Maude (1238)!  I am not a morning person so I can totally relate to her attitude!  Funny thing is…I enjoy making coffee themed cards but I don’t drink it myself!  lol.  The sentiment is from the Giraffe Set (4190)…cracks me up every time I read it!

Here’s a close up of Maude.

I carried the theme to the INSIDE of the card with Maude stamped in light brown and a sentiment from the Cathy Caffeine Set (4322).

The elements on this card were originally made for a Card Candy Swap that I had with some stamping friends.  The pieces were all layered and embellished, then adhered to a piece of clear acetate (or use vellum or wax paper) with a removable glue dot.  I thought it would be fun to emboss a background piece as well to slip in the baggie behind the acetate.

This is a 4×6 clear bag with the topper attached.

If you’ve never made card candy, I would encourage you to give it a try!  It’s a great way to trade or share with your friends and so fun to see what you create with the pieces!

Have a great day and… happy stamping!

need a crown

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a card using one of the hilarious Ai People sets… this one is the Crown Set (4370).  This lady is sure to crack a smile on the recipients face!

She is perfect for one of my favorite techniques…paper piecing.  I could have easily pieced her top but decided to just do her skirt in patterned paper.  Then I gave her a fun background and sassy red shoes to match her personality!

Isn’t this gal a hoot?

His peace journal

Just popping in with a super quick journal I decorated.  I used the Sweet ‘n Sassy sets called Wildflowers and His Peace.

This was reaaallly a quick project…I had about 20 minutes to make it.  LOL.  I started with a pre-purchased journal and picked out the sentiment I wanted to use.  Then I found a pretty flower image to stamp as a background.  Since I was short on time, I turned to my MFT Die-Namics Blueprints 14 for the layout.

I snapped a quick pic and sent it on it’s way.  Later I realized that I forgot to add some pearls or bling!  ugh.

I am sharing this project and 2 others on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog today!

Have a great day!

Scor-Pal and DCWV

This past week the Scor-Pal team hopped with one of my fave paper companies, Die Cuts With a View!  I love their papers.  The leaves have changed colors here and the weather is turning cooler.  It was perfect timing to work with the Autumn Melody paper stacks!

I don’t drink coffee so for me, cooler weather brings cups of hot tea, spiced cider, or hot cocoa.  Yum!  For my project today I made a Tea Dispenser Box and matching card…perfect for a little gift.  The Scor-Pal and Scor-Tape make it oh-so-easy to create!

There are a few different tutorials on the net to make a tea dispenser box.  One of the easiest (and having the least waste of paper) is from my friend, Heidi…you can view her tutorial here.  She altered some instructions that were in metric to create her own version.  For the tea box that I made, I used Heidi’s directions and slightly changed the measurements so I will include those below.  I just prefer to have the 1/16″ measurements in my cutting rather than my scoring.

Here’s a few close-ups…for the box base I used a patterned paper with a gorgeous gold leafy/flourishy pattern on it and some matching cardstock.

The lid has a coordinating patterned paper around the edge, a tag cut from one of the papers, some leaf brads, and a rosette made from coordinating paper.  You can find all you need to know about creating rosettes in the new Scor-Pal book, Score, Fold, Create! I scored a 5/8″ x 12″ piece of paper every 1/4″.

The lid comes off to fill the box with tea.  I had an extra teapot so I added it to the inside of the lid.

The left side of the box didn’t have as much gold foil design so I dressed it up by adding some little teacups diecut from the same papers.  The bottom teacup and teapot are popped up on dimensionals.

Last, I made a simple 4 1/4″ square offset gatefold card.

The patterned paper was heavy enough to use for the card base…love that!  I started with a 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 piece and scored the 8 1/2 side at 1 1/2 and 5 3/4.  The bottom cup is popped on a dimensional.

For my tea box, I used the following measurements:

I started with 6″ x 12″ and scored the 6″ side at 1″ (same as Heidi’s).  Then I scored the 12″ side @ 3 1/8, 5 3/4, 8 7/8, and 11 1/2.  I cut a segment from the second section per her directions.  Then I adhered the patterned paper layers and assembled the box.  Additionally, I cut a 2 5/8 x 3 1/8 inch piece of patterned paper and adhered it inside the box to line the bottom and cover the flaps from the base.  Then I attached the box to a chipboard base which was covered with cardstock.  My chipboard base measures 2 7/8 x 3 3/8.

For the lid, I used a 4 3/16 x 4 11/16 inch piece and scored it at 3/4″ on all sides as directed.

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out all the projects on the Scor-Pal and DCWV blogs!

basket boxes

Happy Friday!  Are you ready for the weekend?  I have a busy one ahead but today I’ll share a few basket boxes I made with my new toy…the Big Shot Pro!  I have been wanting one for a year and a half…ever since my friend, Michelle, convinced me that I needed one.  LOL.  But I waited until I found a really good price…and then DH encouraged me to get it.  He’s the best!

Anyway…I got *one* die…the basket box.  And here’s what I made…

The bright green box is how it is originally supposed to look…love it!  But then I wanted a box to hold my little MFT strawberries…so I left the lid off the second one and only used one handle.

The green one was made with Momenta paper and stickers.

And the strawberry box was made with K&Company papers and various dies and punches.

These boxes just might show up at a party this weekend.  🙂

My friend told me the BS Pro was big, but it’s hard to tell the size without seeing it in person.  Here’s a quick pic or two for comparison…

It’s HUGE….heavy too!  lol.

I’m off to clean…bleh…have a great weekend!

’tis the season

I finally got a chance to get my July cards done for the SCS Dirty Dozen Christmas card challenges!  I can’t believe that I’ve actually stuck with this for 7 months now.  LOL.  This month Stacy challenged us to use pennants.  My card also fits Bar’s DTGD challenge for today…be sure to check it out!

It’s a pretty clean & simple card.  If you want to play along in the monthly Christmas card challenge, use the keyword SCSCCJUL12 when you upload to the SCS gallery.  And check out the Dare To Get Dirty challenges for today too…be sure to copy & paste the keywords for each of those too.

DTGD 2012

Today at Splitcoaststampers we are starting the Dare To Get Dirty challenges for 2012.  We hope you come join the fun…and maybe win a prize too!  The challenges are a thank you event for the SCS Fan Club members who support the site with their subscriptions, so join us here and then come play along!

I made two cards for today.  This first one is for lisa lara’s challenge.

Lisa’s challenge was so much fun because it was just the push I needed to use the MFT stamp and box die I recently purchased!  Here’s a close up of the girl.

I stamped half of the sentiment on the main image (curved this part) and the other half on the green diecut tab.  Her dress was paper pieced (love to do that!)

My second card was made for Kittie747’s challenge and it also fits Stacy’s (Twinshappy) challenge.

This one was a lot of fun too and I left the sentiment off so it could be used for any occasion that I need it for.  Thanks for the challenges, ladies!

I’ll be back with another card on Monday and my own challenge will be on Wednesday.  I hope to play some more but I have a busy week ahead.  We’ll see!

Have a great weekend!

pursuit of happiness canvas

I had a little time this weekend to create so I decided to pull out a 5 x 7 canvas that has been lying around for-evah…waiting to be transformed.

Even though this photo of my DD is several years old, I still love it.

I used some papers from the DCWV Spring Fling matstack.  I didn’t like how the sentiment looked with the first type of ink I used so instead of tossing it in the trash, I used it to diecut the MFT Leafy Flourish.  There’s always room for mistakes!  And I sort-of like the extra texture it gives.

I also used Distress Crackle Paint again and I love that look…I think I’m getting hooked.  If you click on this photo, hopefully you can see the crackle…

Have a great week!
