old fashioned Christmas

Once again, I’m getting my monthly Christmas cards done just in time but at least they are done, right?

This month Stacy challenged us to make some masculine cards so I used some masculine colors and kept them clean & simple.

This Sweet ‘n Sassy silhouette image from Old Fashioned Christmas is one of my faves and I was anxious to use it.  I also lightly stamped the Music Background over it.

Then I stamped the inside to match.

If you haven’t started on your 2013 Christmas cards yet, it’s never too late to join us.  If you are a SCS Fan Club member, come play along!

precious little one

The Week 4 Ribbon Carousel Crew has some inspiration on the RC Blog today.  This month’s theme is Celebrations.  There’s still time to play so be sure to check it out for a chance to win a Ribbon Carousel!

A card can be created for any type of celebration and since I needed a card for a sweet baby boy that was born, I made a baby card.

After the main image was colored and matted, I punched a slot for some ribbon to slide through.  I used the Sweet ‘n Sassy Baby’s Circus stamp set… isn’t it precious?  And the sketch for this card is from The Sweet Stop.

Hop over to the Ribbon Carousel blog and see the other cards the Crewmates created!

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy Baby’s Circus; paper- white, Baja Breeze, DCWV Nana’s Nursery Baby Boy; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black; accessories- Copics, SU! Slit punch, ribbon.

kid cards

It’s my turn to share some cards on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog and today I have some cards that I made for kids.  First I used the Gifts From Turtle stamp set to make a card for a “turtle-ly” cute kid who turned 3…

I also made a kite shaped card (I love shaped cards!) using directions that my friend, Jeannette, found by Kelly Gettelfinger.  I used the grasshopper and a sentiment from the Buggin’ Ya stamp set.

The fold is on the top left side of the kite.  I used a Copic marker to highlight the word “hoppy” and make some dots on the scallops.  Some stickles were added to the blue strips.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!  Please remember all those who have served our country.

landscape silhouettes

Welcome to Day #1 of the Sweet ‘n Sassy May Release Features!  I must say that I reeeallly love this set!  Yesterday I shared a card with the cityscape image and today I used the farm scene…

This was one of my favorite cards I made so far this month.  My husband even commented on it.  LOL.  I hope you like it too!  The Landscape Silhouettes are fabulous!

When Korin was designing this set, she just kept adding more and more and more… she covered almost every location on the planet with this one. ;) It also coordinates very well with many of their other silhouette sets. It’s really a must have!

  • Stamp set includes 12 images
  • Set measures approximately 8″ 6″
  • The cityscape image measures approximately 4 1/8″ x 7/8″
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp set is priced at $26

Please Note: Sweet ‘n Sassy had a delay from their manufacturer this month so the sets are currently available for preorder and are expected to ship on or around the 21st of May.  Korin apologizes for the inconvenience!  I have to say that it will be worth the wait!

    autumn reflection

A few days ago I was showing a friend how to do the Reflection technique and I really liked the color combo and stamp set I was using so I decided that I needed to make a card.  Besides, I was in need of thank you card anyway.  I can’t believe it’s already September, can you?  So I guess a fall-ish card is ok…

Directions for the reflection technique can be found on Splitcoast here.  This is a pretty clean & simple card.  The hardest part would be stamping the wheat and even that was simple.  Just mask off the bottom and stamp 3 times.  Then place your piece of acetate over top of the wheat and lay your mask over the bottom again.  Stamp the wheat 3 times again onto the acetate, directly over the first ones.  Then remove the mask and flip the acetate over.  Rub the images into the water area.

I hope you have a great holiday weekend!

stamps- SU! Autumn Days; paper- Marina Mist, Soft Suede, white; ink- Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist, Artichoke, Blue Bayou, Daffodil Delight; accessories- acetate, sponges.

    DTGD 2012

Today at Splitcoaststampers we are starting the Dare To Get Dirty challenges for 2012.  We hope you come join the fun…and maybe win a prize too!  The challenges are a thank you event for the SCS Fan Club members who support the site with their subscriptions, so join us here and then come play along!

I made two cards for today.  This first one is for lisa lara’s challenge.

Lisa’s challenge was so much fun because it was just the push I needed to use the MFT stamp and box die I recently purchased!  Here’s a close up of the girl.

I stamped half of the sentiment on the main image (curved this part) and the other half on the green diecut tab.  Her dress was paper pieced (love to do that!)

My second card was made for Kittie747′s challenge and it also fits Stacy’s (Twinshappy) challenge.

This one was a lot of fun too and I left the sentiment off so it could be used for any occasion that I need it for.  Thanks for the challenges, ladies!

I’ll be back with another card on Monday and my own challenge will be on Wednesday.  I hope to play some more but I have a busy week ahead.  We’ll see!

    Have a great weekend!

First card: stamps- MFT PI- Berry Sweet, AmyR Big Words; paper- SU! Pear Pizzazz, Pink Pirouette, white, Real Red and NQ Navy dsp; ink- Crumb Cake, Memento Tuxedo Black; accessories- MFT Die-namics Berry Box, Wonky Scallop Border, and Mini Tabs Quartet, Circle Nestabilities, Copics, buttons, Baker’s Twine.

Second card: paper- white, MM Eye Stella and Rose- Mabel; ink- Marvy brown LePen; accessories- Labels 21 Nestabilities, Cuttlebug Polka Dots, Memory Box Country Landscape and Deer Trio, MFT Die-namics- Wonky Scallop Border and Teardrop Tree, PTI clouds die.

Father’s Day Gift Card / Money Pocket

Father’s Day is just around the corner and today I have a quick and easy card to make with a pocket inside for a gift card, check, or plain ol’ cash!

My friend, Val Stangle, made some awesome cards here.  I just slightly altered her measurements to make mine a 4 1/4″ square card.  She tucked money inside but mine will hold a gift card to Bass Pro…my FIL loves to fish!

The card is very simple and super quick to make with the Scor-Pal and some Scor-Tape.  It took me longer to find the corner punch I wanted to use on the sailboat image than it did to make the whole card.  lol.

To start, score a 4 ¼ x 11 piece of cardstock at 4 ¼ and 8 ½.  The small flap will attach to the inside and become your pocket.  (You can turn the card so the pocket will be on the left or the right side…or the bottom!)

Next, punch a half circle on the end of the small flap.  Place double sided tape on the top and bottom sides of the flap.  Adhere flap to the inside of the card.  The finished card size is a 4 ¼” square.  Here’s the inside.

Note:  instead of having a square flap with a half circle punched out, try cutting the flap on a diagonal, from corner to corner.  Only one side needs to be adhered with Scor-Tape.  You can easily create a patterned paper layer for the triangular flap by cutting a 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 piece of paper diagonally, corner to corner.

I really like the sentiment…so true!  Have an awesome day!

stamps- SU! Sail Away and The Open Sea, AmyR All Men (sentiment); paper- SU! Vanilla & Manchester; ink- SU! Artichoke; accessories- 1 3/8″ circle punch, Marvy corner punch, linen thread, buttons.

    you rock!

Last week I needed some masculine cards and since I never seem to have those on hand, I pulled out the SU! Extreme Elements and Extreme Skateboard to make a few of these…

I love gray and yellow together!  Theres a lot of great cards floating around in this color scheme.  And I thought the brick embossing folder would be perfect for the background.  After embossing, I swiped over the raised design with a white craft inkpad to highlight it.

Here’s a side view…the skateboard dude was carefully cut out and popped up.

    Have a great week!

stamps- SU! Extreme Elements, Extreme Skateboard, incentive stamp (sentiment); paper- Crushed Curry, Basic Gray, white, black; ink- Going Gray, Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, craft white, Memento Tuxedo Black; accessories- Sizzix Texture Fades- Bricked, dimensionals.

    here’s to you

I have another masculine card today…this time using the SU! set called The Open Sea.

My anchor background was inspired by another card I saw…I loved how Darleen made hers here

Hope your week is going well!

stamps- The Open Sea, Friendly Phrases; paper- Crumb Cake, Espresso, Limeade, Pool Party, Indigo; ink- Memento Rich Cocoa, Marvy brown LePen; accessory- brad.
