another ornament card

country-shelf-ornament-card-diane-zechman.jpgTGIF!  :)  Today I have another ornament shaped card to share.

It’s Review Preview Friday at All That Scraps and today we are reviewing my Country Shelf set and the Otis & Milo Christmas set.  So this time I decided to have Christine’s Heidi image sitting on my shelf.

You can check out the other DT samples on the ATS blog.

It is also the 20th of the month today which means that it’s time for another Dirty Dozen & Alumni challenge.  This month Kim (blondie090277) set the challenge.  And it fit perfectly with my card for ATS so I combined the two.  ;)

Here’s the challenge details:

Hanging out the Holidays with Ornaments!

The Challenge: Create a project for any holiday of your choice

Required Element: Your ornament must hang from something or have a loop of ribbon so that it can hang (ie: from a christmas tree, door, etc)

Restricted Element: None

You can see all of the DD gals’ submissions for this challenge here

I used my ornament pattern again to cut the shape of the card base (the fold is at the top).  Then I stamped and masked Heidi before stamping the shelf.

Here’s the card deets… stamps- Country Shelf by Cookie Crumbs, Swiss Pixie Heidi with Ornament by C.C. Designs; paper- Confetti White, Silver; ink- Memento Black, Artichoke; accessories- Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, silver cord.

Have a great weekend!

a friendly gift

gfr-friendly-gifts-diane-zechman.jpgI just love this Gillian F. Roberts image from Stampavie called Bear and Robin!  What a sweet scene!  And I thought this sentiment would be perfect to go with it.  I can think of many friends that I am thankful for!

Once again, I pulled out my Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper.  It goes so well with so many different images and I liked it with this one too!  The bird was left “out-of-the-box” when I cut the main image out with the Labels 4 Nestabilities die.  You can see my tutorial on how to do that here.  It really is very easy and it was just what I needed to cut the bear out without having a lot of extra white space around my image.

Thanksgiving is still a week away here in the US but the stores are already stocking their shelves with Christmas goodies.  I am slowly getting in the holiday spirit…I love this time of year!  :0)  Well, except for the cold weather…LOL.

Have a wonderful day!

Heidi’s ornament

Hello!  Today I have another shaped card to share.  And as promised, you can scroll down for the pattern if you’d like to make one too!

Also, today the ATS design team is reviewing the Swiss Pixies and Amy’s sentiment set from this month’s release.  I chose to use the Heidi With Ornament image since the card template I made was in an ornament shape.

heidis-ornament-diane-zechman.jpg

Once I had my pattern the way I wanted it, I placed it so that the top of the ornament was on the fold.  After it was traced and cut out, I also traced and cut the top piece onto a scrap of silver cardstock.  I thought about embossing the whole front with a Cuttlebug folder but then I changed my mind.  Instead, I heat embossed it with a retired SU! background stamp and some silver embossing powder.  The Swiss Pixie Heidi image was popped up on dimensionals.

Here’s the pattern if you would like to make it…it’s a very simple one.  be sure to post back if you do so I can check it out!

Oh, and BTW, this will fit in a regular A2 envelope.  :)

Cookie Break

cookie-break-digi-diane-zechman.jpgHello all!

I hope you are having a great weekend!  The sun is shining and the air is cool…a perfect fall day!

Over at All That Scraps, Christine has a few bonus images this month!  She has some super cute pilgrims and a bunch of Christmas images that will only be released in digital form.

You can see the sneak peeks today and tomorrow on the ATS blog and the digis will be released on Monday.

Here I used the Santa image called Cookie Break.  I haven’t seen many Santas that are eating the cookies left for him so I thought this one was kinda unique…besides, you know I love cookies so I just had to print him out!  ;)

I used the largest Labels 8 Nestabilities die to cut the base of the card.  I loved how others did this and wanted to try it myself.  And it is hard to see in the photo, but I added a bunch of dots made with Stickles along the lines where the papers met.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Today we are previewing my new set at All That Scraps called Reason For The Season.  This set, along with the other new releases, will be available on Monday at 10 pm.

I chose to use the “joy” image and the star.  I was going to also add one of the sentiments, but I later decided to save that for the inside.

Be sure to check out the other samples on the ATS blog and enter for a chance to win this set.  ;)

This will be one of my Christmas card designs this year.  I get bored making more than about 10 of each design, so I’ll be sharing more later.  LOL.

Have a great Wednesday!

elf shoes?

elf-shoes-2-diane-zechman.jpgDo these look like elf shoes to you?  I’m trying to decide.

Tonight at 10 pm is the release of the September stamp sets at All That Scraps!  So I thought I’d share one more quick sample from my Ollie and Griselda set.  I stamped the witchy shoes again but this time I masked off the tiny spider and colored them red and green.  :0)

I also used some new Spellbinders dies…Labels 6 and Fancy Tags.  After I die cut the tag I was curious if it would layer well with the large SU! oval punch.  And I was surprised how well it did!

So what do you think?  elf shoes?  yes?  no?

If you aren’t busy with holiday plans, be sure to stop by the ATS message board at 8 pm for a pre-release chat.  And check out the complete images of all the new sets at the ATS store at 10 pm!

EDIT:  I uploaded a new pic to this post….I added some pompoms and Polar White Flower Soft.  Look better?

Feb 02 2009

yes, I know it’s February, LOL……and the blog candy winner

candle-christmas-diane-zechman.jpgNo, I haven’t lost track of which month we are in!  Ha ha.  But I did it!  Barely, but it got done!

I *really* wanted to get a good head start on my Christmas cards for 2009 by making a few each month.  Now, mind you, I had the same good intentions last year…but never followed through.   sigh.gif  So I really want to try hard this year!  I also created a link in my categories so I can keep them together and hopefully it will help serve as a reminder each month!  Even though I am posting this in February, they were made on the last day of January, so that’s good enough for me to count them as my “January cards”.  LOL.

Since I never got a chance to use this stamp, and likewise never got around to putting it away, I decided to ink it up for my first set of cards.  I loved this image when I saw it at an LSS.  There’s no name on the stamp, but the store owner told me that it’s from Blue Ridge Impressions.  The sentiment is from the Christmas Sentiments set by AmyR Designs.

When I had the card all put together, it just still seemed to need something on the left.  With the sentiment and ribbon already there, I didn’t want to add another embellishment.  So I decided to paper pierce the corners and it seemed to be just what the card needed.  I have been “into” paper piercing a lot more lately.  I kind-of go in spurts.  There’s another card that I will share soon that I paper pierced on.  And I hope to do more.

So who wants to join me and get those cards done early?   ;)

stamps- Blue Ridge Impressions, words- AmyR Designs; paper- White, Moss, Artichoke, dp- Provo Craft; ink- Memento Black, Artichoke; accessories- Copic markers, Labels 1 Nestabilities, ribbon, eyelets, SU! Designer Label punch, circle punch, SU! mat pack for paper piercing.

And now for the BLOG CANDY WINNER!

First, let me say that I loved reading about your favorite cookies!  And thank you to those who shared their favorite recipes…I am anxious to try them!  :0)  I also really appreciate all of the kind words everyone had to say.

OK, so here’s who Random.org picked:

Random Integer Generator

Here are your random numbers:

153

And the winner is Tracey with this comment:  “That oven is fantastic! WHat a cool idea!! My fave cookie is chocolate chip!!”

(I think Chocolate Chip was an overwhelming favorite in the responses!  But there was quite a variety mentioned.  I can see that I’m not the only one who LOVES cookies!)  :0)

Tracey, let me know your address and I’ll see that your cookie sets get out to you!

I hope to see you in the chat at All That Scraps tonight…8 pm EST!  The release of the new sets will be at 10 pm.
