snowy note cube

Hello friends!  It’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge!

We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge on the second Sunday of each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  This month it is Bev’s turn and her challenge is “Snowy, Frosty, or Glitzy!”  Sound fun?

Remember when stamping on the blank note cubes was popular?  How many of you still have some in a closet somewhere?  (raising my hand too!)  I recently got one out and realized once again that it is a fun project to do.  Here I stamped an old SU! snowman set, Flaky Friends, and colored with markers.

The online store where we used to order the blank note cubes is no longer in business.  We may need to find a new source for these!  😉

Happy stamping!

clear-ly Christmas

Hello friends!  It’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge!

We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge on the second Sunday of each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  This month it is Lydia’s turn and her challenge is “Ice, Ice baby – represent ice with a CLEAR element on your card – embossing powder, glaze, acetate, etc.”  Sound fun?

I made a clear card (love these!) with some Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Christmas Silhouettes images and the Christmas Silhouettes dies and Hillside Edges dies.

It was hard to photograph without getting a glare.  The front of the acetate card was embossed with a snowflake embossing folder.  The reindeer is on the front and the tree is on the inside of the front.  Some deco labels were cut and adhered to the inside back.  Then the hillside edge die was cut and layered with the sentiment stamped on it.

An additional white layer was cut and adhered to the card back to hide the tape and provide a place to write a greeting.

Please join us and create a card with a clear element… then share it on our Facebook page!  Also, you can upload it to the Splitcoast gallery…and use the keyword CHXDEC15.  Now be sure to click on the links below to check out what the other Chicks created!

a helping hand

Hello friends!  It’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge!

We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge on the second Sunday of each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  This month it is Kelly’s turn and her challenge is “Wrap it Up…Make a tag that coordinates with your gift wrap“.

Here’s my tag… the words were typed on the computer.

helping hand 2 diane zechman

My tag is a super simple one and my “gift wrap” is actually the oven mitt itself!  I work in an elementary school and this was a gift for someone who helped in our classroom.  All the kids wrote their names on the oven mitt with a Sharpie and then the mitt became the “wrapping” as it was filled with some treats.  🙂

Hello friends!  It’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge!

We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge on the second Sunday of each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  This month it is Jeanne’s turn and her challenge is “Splat” – use watercolor/ink splatters!

I got out my Snowman Soup stamp set (It now has matching dies!) and wanted to create a “hot cocoa” background…boy was that a challenge!  lol.  This is my 5th try… haha.  My card was also created for yesterday’s SCS Inspiration Challenge.  I used image 7 for my inspiration.

My snowy guy was colored with Copics and popped up.  I masked off the word “you” in my sentiment and replaced it with a big diecut word.  Then I stamped a few extra marshmallows to float in my chocolately background.

it’s exhausting

Hello friends!

The Challenge Chicks took a bit of a break but we are back and a few more chicks will be joining us either this month or next!  We are also moving to the SECOND Sunday of each month.  We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  Are you ready for another Challenge Chicks Challenge?  This month I am hosting and my challenge is Circles of Friendship (use circles OR friendship OR both!).

What would we do without friends?  I mean really..good..friends.  Some friends are there for us in good times and bad…and these two gals sure are enjoying the good!  For the card I am sharing today I took the phrase “circle of friendship” a bit literally…with circles as the basis for my friendship card.

Ai it's exhausting diane zechman

I used the Ai Laughing Set (4385). I love these two ladies…they make me smile!  They also bring back funny memories of silly times.  A few of my friends went to a scrapbooking convention this past week and as I type this, I can’t wait to hear the stories they will have to tell when they get back!  (We call our group “The Gigglers”…ha!)

Here’s a close up..

spring bling

I’m a bit late… yesterday was the first Sunday of the month…which means…it’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge!

We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge on the first Sunday of each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  This month it is Jeanne’s turn and her challenge is Spring Bling… make a spring card with glitter, rhinestones or anything blingy!  I used a few clear rhinestones on my CAS springy hello card.

The sentiment is from my Sweet Sarah stamp set.  And the clouds are from the Sweet ‘n Sassy Clouds & Raindrops die set.

The background is a cute piece of patterned paper attached to a dark brown base.  Then I simply die cut the large cloud from the card front and stamped my sentiment on additional patterned paper that was adhered to the inside.  A smaller cloud was diecut and popped with foam dimensionals.  Then I added the bling to finish it off.

love is in the air

It’s February!  really??  January flew right by.  Once we hit February, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I didn’t want to procrastinate this year!  This card was made for the Art Impressions “Have A Heart” Challenge.  I also made this for our Challenge Chicks Challenge which is just for fun.  This month was my turn and my challenge is “love is in the air- make a valentine!”   Here’s my card with the AI Val Set.

winter ATC frame

Hello friends!  I have a special project to share today that I made for a Christmas gift.  I wanted the recipient to be able to enjoy it all winter long, though, so I went with a snowy/winter theme.  Each little card in my frame is ATC size (2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches) and I used lots of my favorite Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps and dies.

I also made this for our Challenge Chicks Challenge…this month Anna wants us to create winter scenes!

SNSS ATC frame diane zechman

I wanted to be able to switch out the ATC’s for each season/holiday or whatever theme I want…so they were attached in the frame with Removable Glue Dots.  I found these to work perfectly for the right amount of adhesion needed, yet still be able to be easily removed.

Here’s some close-ups of each ATC.  For the first one I made a rosette with my Scor-Pal and centered it onto a Sweet ‘n Sassy Large Snowflake diecut.  The “brrr” is from my Snowman Soup stamp set and the background was embossed with the Cuttlebug Kars Snowflake embossing folder.

The second one has some stamped skating friends from the SNSS Winter Silhouettes stamp set, with one popped up for dimension.  There’s a few tiny snowflakes from my Snowy Hello stamp set lightly added to the top.  The edges of this one were stitched on my sewing machine.

SNSS ATC frame 2 diane zechman

The mittens were made with a SU! punch and the white tiny clothespins came from Michael’s.  They were attached with 1/8″ Scor-TapeCrochet thread was perfect for the string.

The Let it Snow words are a Sizzix die and I faintly stamped snowflakes in the background from the Spectacular Snowflakes.

SNSS ATC frame 3 diane zechman

On the left, below, I used one of the Bookmarks & More dies to create a tag. The heart was cut from the Heart dies and the tiny snowflakes and words are from my Snowy Hello set.  The snowflake charm is SU!

On the right the background was embossed with the Sizzix Snowflakes #3 folder.  3 circles were punched and popped for dimension.  The snowman’s face, hat and scarf are from the Warm Hello stamps.

SNSS ATC frame 4 diane zechman

The tree, deer, and bird, below are from Forest Silhouettes dies. On the right, I lightly stamped the Music Background.  More Snowy Hello flakes were stamped (this time in green) and the bird from Peace of God was popped up.

SNSS ATC frame 5 diane zechman

The Hillside Edges dies made a cute snowy scene and the words from Winter Silhouettes went with it perfectly.  Then I stamped the sleigh ride image from one of my fave Christmas sets, Old Fashioned Christmas.  The top border was punched with the Martha Stewart Icicles punch.

SNSS ATC frame 6 diane zechman

The words and snowy fella below, drinking hot cocoa, is from my Snowman Soup set.  The mug, scarf, and mittens were paper pieced.  Then I applied a Puffy Velvet Fabric marker (like Liquid Applique) to the marshmallows and heat them with a heat tool to puff them up.

The skates are a Sizzix Movers & Shapers die.  The blades were heat embossed with silver e.p. and the Martha Stewart branch punch, along with a tiny jingle bell, finished them off.  You can’t see in the pic but the skates were painted with Picket Fence Crackle Paint.

SNSS ATC frame 7 diane zechman

Lots of glitter and bling were added to each one to make this frame sparkle!  My ATC memory tray was purchased at Hobby Lobby.

silver & gold (and Sam the snowman sings)

I’m late!  Yesterday was the first Sunday of the month…which means…it’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge!

We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge on the first Sunday of each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  This month it is Kelly’s turn and her challenge is Silver & Gold… use one or the other, or both!  I used silver and gold cardstock, plus gold embossing powder on my CAS Christmas card.

silver and gold diane zechman

silver and gold 2 diane zechman

The gold embossed snowflakes are from Sweet ‘n Sassy’s Spectacular Snowflakes stamp set.  The sentiment is from Mod Ornaments and was embossed with white e.p.  The little scallop border was diecut with a die from the SNSS Bookmarks and More set of dies.

Maybe it’s the fact that Christmas is slowly approaching, but every time I thought of “silver and gold” while creating this, my mind kept hearing Sam the Snowman from Rudolf singing the Silver & Gold song.  Here you go…you can thank me later for getting it stuck in your head too!  😉
