holiday wishes…

clean & simple style!

I recently made some quick and easy Christmas cards with 12×12 sheets of patterned papers and AmyR’s Christmas sentiment sets.  This piece was cut into 4×4 squares and made 9 cards.

The plain striped paper on the bottom is the reverse side of the stripe with the stockings.  And the sentiment is from AmyR’s Holiday Greetings.  The QuicKutz boot die was a perfect match, don’t you think?

Tomorrow I’ll have another card to share with a different sheet of paper, using the same layout.  I love when a set of cards comes together quickly and easily!

a different stair step card

Where has the week gone?  Yikes!  I am back today with a different type of Stair Step card that I made… inspired by my friend, Pam Sparks.  She is making some gorgeous cards in this style and she calls them a Front Panel Side Step card.  You can see her directions here on her blog.

I altered the dimensions slightly on my card to make it an A2 size.  I started with 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and the center score is at 4 1/4″.  All other side scores are on the same 1″ measurements. (From the bottom, score at 1″, 2″, and 5 1/4″.)

I used the Penelope and Juniper images from the November release at All That Scraps.  This pair is too cute!

After everything was cut out and glued down, I added Stickles to Penelope’s fur accents for some holiday sparkle.  I also applied Aleene’s True Snow to the base of the main image.

Here you can see how the card is cut and folded in this side view.  The sentiment hangs off the front panel.

What a fun card!  I hope you give it a try.  (Thanks, Pam, for the inspiration!)

a different kind of gift card holder

It’s Holiday Blitz time again!  Have you been following the project tutorials this week on the Splitcoast site?  A new holiday project will continue to be posted each day until Sunday so be sure to check them out!  I’ve only had a chance to try one of the projects so far, but I plan to make more.  There’s some really cute ones!

Each year some new gift card holder ideas crop up on the net and I like to try a few out.  It seems like gift cards are purchased more and more.  So it’s nice to have a variety of ideas to draw from.  Here I tried the one from Monday’s tutorial, using one of C.C. Design’s new images.  It’s called the Slit Latch Gift Card Holder.  Only a portion of Penelope was stamped and colored to decorate the front.  And a few of AmyR’s Merry & Bright sentiments were used on it.

I didn’t have a gift card to place in it for the photo…sorry!  The directions say to punch 2 tabs with the SU! Slit punch to hold the gift card inside but I punched 4 slits, one in each corner.  I wanted to make sure it stayed in place!

It’s not Thanksgiving yet, but Christmas music is playing on the TV station and it’s putting me in a holiday mood!  I ♥ love, love, LOVE ♥ Christmas music!

Thanks for stopping by…have a great night!

true friend & a fun new technique

Just a quick post because as I’m typing this, I still need to get my Halloween treats made (for today!).

I have 2 cards today for the preview of Amy Rysavy’s new set…Sassy Sentiments.  There are some really cute sentiments in this set…be sure to check it out!

My first card uses a sentiment that really caught my eye.  I am not a coffee drinker….blech!  LOL.  But I have lots of friends who are!  I also used paper from the Kaisercraft Utopia pad which I purchased from the ATS store.

I never used the papers with the little tags, labels, etc. in them but I really liked how quick this was to stamp a sentiment on a punch-out, pre-printed label!

For my second card I wanted to try out a new technique I found…Inset Embossing Folder.  I love my embossing folders so I knew I would love this technique!  Here is the website with a tutorial.  All you do is glue some punch-outs onto another piece of cardstock and then emboss.  The punched pieces seem to almost “melt” into the cardstock base.

I tried 4 different folders and as you can see, they each gave a different look.

This technique made a few birthday cards very quickly.  Love that!  Here I used another sentiment from Amy’s new set.

Thanks for popping by!

Daydream

Hello!  It’s time again for some new stamp previews at All That Scraps.  Today we are previewing a few new Sugarplums and I used the Daydream image.

I have to say that I wasn’t completely satisfied with her hair color!  I actually had it colored and shaded pretty nice but when I went to place it onto the card, her hair was so much lighter that it looked gray!  LOL!  So much for trying to shade it so carefully.  I went back over it with the black and C-7.  sigh.

You can check out all of the new images on the ATS blog here.

more candy corn cards

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend!  On Saturday I attended another SCS shoebox gathering.  Fun times!

I was real busy last week getting my swaps ready.  That meant making a bunch more of the candy corn cards.  This one was my shoebox project for the ladies at my table to make.

I used the C.C. Designs Mummy Trevor image here and I just happened to find a Cuttlebug gravestone die that I forgot I had…perfect!

The other candy corn card I made was smaller…this one was my ATC swap.  I reduced my A2 size pattern down to be 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches (ATC size).  And I stamped a face from the old SU! set…Fun Faces.  The teeth were colored in with a white gel pen and I couldn’t help but to add some wiggly eyes.  The words are from AmyR’s Autumn Sentiments.

Here’s the pattern I made for the ATC.  And in case the downloads aren’t working, I’ll also attach a jpeg image.  Just click on the thumbnail for a larger pic.

a popcorn treat

Hello!  Today I have a quick and easy project for a Halloween treat.  It’s a simple sleeve wrapped around a single serving microwave popcorn bag.

I used one of Tina Wenke’s new Halloween images by Stampavie.  I love how the kitten is peeking out from the pumpkins!

Stickles was added to the faces to make them “glow”.  And after threading two strands through the button, I thought it kinda resembled the kitten’s whiskers.

A decorated treat makes a simple gift seem so much more thoughtful.  I love receiving them and I hope my recipient will too!

another Vera Bradley card

You may remember this card that I made for my friend’s daughter for her bridal shower.  Recently I recycled some more of the Vera Bradley invite to make another card for their wedding day.

My friend saw this beautiful card and loved it, so it became my inspiration.  I have a hard time adding pins to my cards (afraid someone will get poked, I guess) but since this was for such a special occasion and it was not going in the mail I decided it would be perfect.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow…I will have a special post with my second video tutorial.  I made a little something extra for the wedding.  😉

cookies for Rudolf

Christmas baby boy loooves Rudolf.  And cookies.  And milk.  So on Christmas eve he hops into his fave Rudolf jammies and leaves a sweet snack for the big guy….and Rudolf too.  Of course he has to sneak outside to leave Rudolf’s treat.  And if he listens real good, he just might hear him coming.

Check out the other sneak peeks of the Christmas babies on the ATS blog.

Free Wheelin’ Wally

Our October sneak peeks have started at All That Scraps!  Today we are previewing some new characters…the Cuddle Crew.  There are 2 being released and this one is Free Wheelin’ Wally!

What a fun turtle!  I just had to give him a sparkly red helmet.  😉  I also used one of Amy’s sentiments which goes with the image quite nicely!  I thought the sentiment didn’t stand out well enough on it’s own, though, and seemed to be a bit “lost” on the card.  So I added a row of dots with Black Stickles and I think it brings more attention to the sentiment.

I can’t believe is seriously almost October, can you??!!
