TGIF!  :)  Today I have another ornament shaped card to share. 

It’s Review Preview Friday at All That Scraps and today we are reviewing my Country Shelf set and the Otis & Milo Christmas set.  So this time I decided to have Christine’s Heidi image sitting on my shelf.

It is also the 20th of the month today which means that it’s time for another Dirty Dozen & Alumni challenge.  This month Kim (blondie090277) set the challenge.  And it fit perfectly with my card for ATS so I combined the two.

The Challenge: Create a project for any holiday of your choice

Required Element: Your ornament must hang from something or have a loop of ribbon so that it can hang (ie: from a christmas tree, door, etc)

Restricted Element: None

I used my ornament pattern again to cut the shape of the card base (the fold is at the top).  Then I stamped and masked Heidi before stamping the shelf.

I just love this Gillian F. Roberts image from Stampavie called Bear and Robin!  What a sweet scene!  And I thought this sentiment would be perfect to go with it.  I can think of many friends that I am thankful for! 

Once again, I pulled out my Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper.  It goes so well with so many different images and I liked it with this one too!  The bird was left “out-of-the-box” when I cut the main image out with the Labels 4 Nestabilities die.  You can see my tutorial on how to do that here.  It really is very easy and it was just what I needed to cut the bear out without having a lot of extra white space around my image. 

Thanksgiving is still a week away here in the US but the stores are already stocking their shelves with Christmas goodies.  I am slowly getting in the holiday spirit…I love this time of year!  :0)  Well, except for the cold weather…LOL.

Hello again.  Today I’m back with a flash from the past.  :0) 

I was recently thinking about making another one sheet wonder template and I realized that I have only shared my most recent one with you.  I have two more that were posted a long time ago on a different website that I no longer have.  So I thought I’d just quickly post the other ones I did and then they will be available in the archives here for future reference. 

If you are unfamiliar with the One Sheet Wonders, it is just a way to quickly make a set of coordinating cards.  You first stamp a whole sheet of cardstock and then cut it up, following the pattern.  The pieces are then used as if you would use patterned papers on your cards.  (you can also just cut up the patterned papers to use). 

Now please bear in mind….these first two OSW’s that I created were back in 2004.  I would hope that my stamping has improved in the past 5 years!  LOL!  But I will post the card samples that I created with them anyway.  It helps to have a visual of how to use the pieces and hopefully the samples will give you a starting point.

Hello!  Today I have another shaped card to share.  And as promised, you can scroll down for the pattern if you’d like to make one too!

Also, today the ATS design team is reviewing the Swiss Pixies and Amy’s sentiment set from this month’s release.  I chose to use the Heidi With Ornament image since the card template I made was in an ornament shape. 

Once I had my pattern the way I wanted it, I placed it so that the top of the ornament was on the fold.  After it was traced and cut out, I also traced and cut the top piece onto a scrap of silver cardstock.  I thought about embossing the whole front with a Cuttlebug folder but then I changed my mind.  Instead, I heat embossed it with a retired SU! background stamp and some silver embossing powder.  The Swiss Pixie Heidi image was popped up on dimensionals.

Hello my friends!  How are you?  I hope you are having a few days of nice weather like we’ve had here lately!

Despite the beautiful weather though, my mojo kinda left for a bit.  I had a decision to make a few days ago and I felt I made the wrong choice so I was pretty mad at myself to say the least.  But last night I made this card and I really liked how it turned out so hopefully I’m getting a little less upset with myself.  LOL.

This is Swiss Pixie Nora from the ATS November release.  She is actually surrounded by snowflakes in the stamp but I cut her out, omitting the snowflakes, and colored her to fit in an Autumn card.   

The template for this acorn card was created by Kim Hughes and is available through the Paper Crafts magazine.  Her cute card was published in the October 2008 issue.  You can find the pattern here.  I just loved it when I saw it and I can’t believe it took me a whole year to try it!  LOL. 

The acorn cap and leaf were embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folders…Tartan and Herringbone.  The Tartan folder can be found here at HSN.  I never ordered from them before, but I was pleased with their service.  And I purchased the Herringbone from ATS…you can find that one here.  I also used the Cuttlebug Squirrel die.  That might be retired??? …not sure.  But maybe you can do a search…it sure is cute!

I guess I have been in the mood for making shaped cards lately.  If you like them too, then be sure to check back on Friday…I was inspired by this card to create a different shaped card.  I made a quick pattern for it to share with you too.

Over at All That Scraps, Christine has a few bonus images this month!  She has some super cute pilgrims and a bunch of Christmas images that will only be released in digital form. 

You can see the sneak peeks today and tomorrow on the ATS blog and the digis will be released on Monday.

Here I used the Santa image called Cookie Break.  I haven’t seen many Santas that are eating the cookies left for him so I thought this one was kinda unique…besides, you know I love cookies so I just had to print him out!  ;) 

I used the largest Labels 8 Nestabilities die to cut the base of the card.  I loved how others did this and wanted to try it myself.  And it is hard to see in the photo, but I added a bunch of dots made with Stickles along the lines where the papers met.

I hope you had a great weekend!  I sure did.  On Saturday I attended another fun day of stamping with some of my NY and PA friends.  Fun, fun!  I have a few projects from this gathering that I will share with you this week.  And the sneak peeks for the new ATS sets for November start this week too, so be sure to check the ATS blog each day! 

This card was my shoebox project on Saturday that I prepared for everyone at my table to make.  I used my Ollie and Griselda set, along with the Retiform Grid technique that I haven’t done in a long time.  It was fun to try it out again.  I don’t remember where I first learned this technique, but I learned to make it two different ways…one by drawing in the lines with a marker and the other by sponging without drawing the lines.  I forgot to take some pictures as I was making it, so hopefully I’ll explain it well enough to understand.

First I started with a square of white cardstock.  Then I made a pattern for my grids by cutting a second square into 3 random pieces.  You do not need to make a pattern but I needed to be able to make several cards exactly alike so a pattern was very helpful.  Then I traced the pattern pieces with a Sharpie marker to get the black lines. 

Next I masked off each section, one at a time and stamped the images with black ink.  Then I masked them each again, sponging them with 3 different colors of ink.  It really doesn’t matter if you stamp first or sponge first by doing it this way but if you stamp first, then you have a little more control over where your lighter, highlighted areas are.

The second way I learned to do this technique is to not draw in any lines.  In this way, you must do your sponging first.  Mask off a section and sponge it.  Then move your mask and sponge another section.  Your sections may overlap if you want.  Continue until you fill the cardstock.  Then come back and mask the sections again, this time stamping various coordinating images in each one.  By doing it this way, it is sometimes best to choose only 2 colors of ink that blend well together to avoid the sections looking “muddied” where they overlap. 

I hope I explained it well enough and you give it a try!  It is really a fun technique which is quick and easy when you don’t have time to do a lot of coloring.

Wow…I can’t believe how time flies.  Yesterday Riley turned one!

In honor of her birthday, and to play along with the monthly DD/DDA challenge over at Splitcoast, I made this card. 

Well, I should say that I kinda screwed up the card!  The challenge this month was set by Jodi (Kharmagirl).  She asked us to paper piece our card.  check.  I got that part right. 

But last night as I was typing up this blog post I realized that I forgot all about the required element…to use fall or Christmas colors.  Ugh!  Do pink, brown and orange qualify?  LOL.  I guess not.  :0(

Oh well…I’ll share my card here anyway.   

When I first saw Christine’s Birthday Bash set, I knew the puppy with a cupcake would be perfect for this occasion…even though Riley could care less!  LOL.  And when I paper pieced the cupcake and party hat, I decided to paper piece the puppy too.  It had to be a pink puppy…because Riley’s favorite stuffed toy (that she even sleeps with) is a pink dog that we call “Pink Puppy”.  Original name, huh?  Pink Puppy lost her eyesight and can’t hear very well since she only has one ear now but she is still well loved. 

Riley must think that cupcake is mighty yummy.
