origami kitty

I LOOOVE shaped cards.  Love ‘em!  So a few days ago I thought it would be fun to make a kitty card.  Not sure why.  Just for fun.

I thought it might be fun to see how difficult an origami kitty would be so I googled and found a super EASY one.  You gotta try it.  Here’s a diagram.

And here’s the kitty I made…

You can start with any size squares you want.  I started with two 4″ squares of Fancy Pants Hopscotch paper.  (A Scor-Pal helps to get nice folds if you have one.)

Have a great holiday weekend!  Thanks to all who serve our country!

Scor-Pal and May Arts

The Scor-Pal DT gals have teamed up with the May Arts DT to bring you lots of ideas using your Scor-Pal products and beautiful May Arts ribbons.  I have two simple cards to share today.  Both have fun ways to use up those scraps of ribbon you have laying around.  The first one starts out as a Z-fold card.

For this card, start with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock.  Score the base @ 2 1/8 and 4 1/4 with your Scor-Pal.  Fold to create the Z-fold.  Trim 1/2″ from the left edge and punch with a border punch.  I sponged all edges at this point.  Behind the first fold with the punched edge, attach ribbon scraps and lace with Scor-Tape.  Adhere flap to cardfront.

For the butterfly:  Cover a scrap of white cardstock with Scor-Tape (I used 1/2″).  Adhere ribbons and diecut.  Attach to card and add rhinestones.

My second card has a scored border and also uses ribbon scraps.

First, score a 1/4″ border on all sides.  Sponge edges.   Then start with a piece of 3 x 4 patterned paper and cut a “V” in the bottom to create a wide flag.  Punch a flower shape in the flag and turn it over to the back side.  Add Scor-Tape around the edges of the punched out shape.  Layer ribbons over the opening until it is completely covered.  Tie another ribbon around the top and attach the flag to the card front with additional Scor-Tape.  Finish the flower with a button threaded with May Arts twine.

swan sympathy

Just popping in with a CAS sympathy card.  I don’t know why but when I make sympathy cards, I always reach for blues, greens and purples.  So when I pulled out this Sweet ‘n Sassy set of swans, I reached for the blues.

I loved the SCS sketch #435 and it made the card come together rather quickly.  An oriental embossing folder seemed to be fitting for the image and occasion.

Happy Mother’s Day! (and video)

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!  I hope your day is extra special.

A week ago I went to the local Arts Fest and found the cutest bird feeders…  antique tea cups mounted onto old spindles!  My girls gave some to me for Mother’s Day and I purchased a few for gifts.  Since I was giving one to my mother-in-law for Mother’s Day, I wanted to make a matching card.  I realized then that I had just the image to make it!

The bird and teacup image from my Special Blend stamp set was perfect!  ♥

When we purchased the feeders, I was pleasantly surprised that “100% of the proceeds go to help provide adaptive AmTrykes to differently abled people.”  What a wonderful gift those ladies are giving that make them.  Here’s a few pics of the birds that I’ve enjoyed watching as they visit the feeders.

and a sneaky one… “If I look the other way, he might not see me coming”.  lol.

And a quick little video to share…I think the last little bird needs his momma to give him a few more flying lessons.  ;)   Happy Mother’s Day!

cityscape silhouette

There’s a new release happening on the Sweet ‘n Sassy site today!  And…a fun challenge in the member company forum on Splitcoast.  Here’s my card for the challenge using a brand new silhouette…

Instead of sponging a background, I decided to stamp the cityscape directly onto patterned paper.  The words matched the paper perfectly (the sentiment is from another new release!)

This month the new sets are on pre-order for a short time but I would hop right over there…I’m thinking they will be popular.  ;)

Have a great start to your weekend!
