birthday fishes

Have you checked out the new Sweet ‘n Sassy die sets yet?  They make creating with their companion stamp sets fun and easy!  Here’s a card using the Happy Ocean Friends stamp set and dies.  I also used the Tall Grass die.

The fish and bubbles also have some sparkle from a clear Wink of Stella brush.

You can see how nicely the dies cut these little fishies out.

These images aren’t just for summer…you can “fish” someone a happy birthday all year ’round.  And now that the kids are starting to hit the books again, how about making a card to wish them a great “school” year?  I bet the teachers would appreciate one too.  ;)

Have a fabulous day!

Millie’s jumpin’! (with video)

My friend, LouAnn, just retired and of course I needed to make her a card in celebration.  So I turned to another one of my Art Impressions Golden Oldies, the too cute and oh so funny Millie.

I took one look at her and decided that she needed to be in motion…so I colored and cut her out, then mounted her onto the card with an Action Wobble spring.  Only the lines around her which show motion were masked and stamped onto the patterned paper underneath.

After my card was completed it still seemed liked something was missing.  Glitz!  So Millie’s blouse was made sparkly with a clear Wink of Stella pen.  Much better.

On the inside, I typed and printed the message on my computer.

Wanna see Millie wiggle…err…jumpin’ for joy??

birthday by the sea

Today I am sharing a card on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog.  Did you see the new dies that were released yesterday?  They match 3 of the summer sets already available in the SNSS store.  Here I paired a stamp set called The Sea with seashells from Beauty By The Sea and their (just released) matching dies.

The shells were heat embossed on vellum and colored from behind with various markers.  A circle was punched in the light blue layer and then I lightly traced the opening before gluing the layer down so I knew where to stamp the boat image.

Seashells are great to use on a card because they can convey happiness or a sense of calmness and peace.  I think this design would work well for many occasions, including sympathy.  Just make several the same and switch up the sentiment.

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy- The Sea and Beauty By The Sea; paper- vellum, Smoky Slate, Pool Party; ink- Versamark, Versafine Black, Smoky Slate, Island Indigo, various markers; accessories- white embossing powder, circle and oval punches, SU! Fancy Fan embossing folder, baker’s twine, foam dots.

the little things

Hello, Sweet ‘n Sassy  friends!  Welcome to the August 2014 Release!

Dies seem to be the trend in card making right now and Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps has some fabulous new dies to release this month that coordinate with several of our summer stamp sets already available in the store!  The bonus is that even though these stamps and dies were designed to be summer sets, they can be used all year long!

My card today was made with the Flourish Seashells stamp set and NEW matching dies!

the best love story

I’ve been quite busy lately and it’s been over a week since I posted a card so how about one I made back in April for my niece’s wedding?

love story 1 diane zechman

The bride and groom are by Stampendous.  This image is called Happy Couple.  I used Shimmery White cardstock for elegance and layered some sparkly paper by DCWV behind the cutouts.

The window was diecut with one of the SU! Window Frames dies and then a diecut from the Bigz Lattice die was layered behind it.

Hope you are enjoying your day.  Our weather can’t decide if it wants to be sunny or rainy/cool.  :/

Selma & Gladys

Hello friends!  It’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge!  We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge on the first Sunday of each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  This month it is my turn and my challenge is “Giggle Greetings”- Make a humorous card!  Who doesn’t love a funny card?

When it comes to funny cards, a few companies come to mind.  One that I love is Art Impressions…especially the Golden Oldies.  These two ladies are Selma and Gladys, a few of my faves!  They crack me up!

The bubbles say “Oh my dear, those stripes are sooo slimming!” and “Good heavens! that skirt does wonders!”.  Inside the card it reads “Friends always know just the right things to say!“.  ha!  I can so relate to these ladies…friends can be the best!

Here’s a bit closer photo of the ladies.  I colored them with Copics.

The striped suit was brushed with a clear Wink Of Stella pen and I went over the tiny green “skirt” also.  I really wish it was easier to photograph sparkles!  I took a tilted shot but it’s still hard to see.

Please join us and create a Humorous card… then share it on our Facebook page!  Also, you can upload it to the Splitcoast gallery…and use the keyword CHXAUG14.  Now be sure to click on the links below to check out what the other Chicks created!

    from our house to yours

Last night I played along with this week’s Sketch challenge and used my Happy Home stamp set…

I added the extra panel because my main image was smaller than I anticipated.  But I think it’s extra cute with the polka-dotty paper behind it.  ;)

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy Happy Home; paper- white, black, SU! Marina Mist, American Crafts Hip Hip Hooray; accessories- Copics, tracing wheel, Stickles.

    it’s your birthday

Wow…I finally found some time last night to stamp!  I combined three of this week’s SCS challenges (Sketch, Ways To Use It, and Free For All) and came up with this.

I used the Sweet ‘n Sassy Lots-A-Spots, Birthday Word Art, and my Valentine Critters stamp sets.

stamps-  Sweet ‘n Sassy Lots-A-Spots, Birthday Word Art, and Valentine Critters; paper- SU! Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, black, white; ink- SU! Crisp Cantaloupe, Versafine Black, Memento Tuxedo Black; accessories- tracing wheel, Copics, button, crochet thread, foam tape, glue dot.

    more shower pics

I have more pics today from the bridal shower…there were too many for one post!  First is the invitation.  There are several variations online for inspiration to make this style of card.  Since I needed quite a few, I went CAS (clean & simple) and made my own pattern for the dress.

The shower information was typed and printed for the inside so these went together fairly easily.  The words are from SU!

To decorate, we hung colorful paper lanterns on lines of string which is so popular right now.  They looked very cute!

My neice made the cupcakes… she does a wonderful job.  The ones on the top right plate are my new FAVE….Coconut Cream!  They are filled and so yummy!  The chocolate frosted were Boston Cream and the dress was made with 2 flavors…plain vanilla and raspberry filled.

Yesterday I shared pics of the table decorations and here’s one of the tables set up.

After we ate, it was time for a game.  Kayla likes the show Minute To Win It, so I suggested this to one of the bridesmaids and she did a great job in putting it together.  First up, the mothers had to race to take the tissues out of the box…one by one.  It is hard to grab just one!  I had them flying in the air and on the floor.  lol.

Next challenge was to toss rings into a bucket.  Judy rocked this one and got the required amount in first.  (That’s my cupcake girl tossing rings on the right!)

Here the little girls had to “un-tie the knot”…strings of pearls wrapped and wrapped around the ladies.

Ashley got a little silly putting together and stacking the glasses and Kim finished seconds before her.

I will spare my sister-in-laws the FUNNY photos of the challenge to get the garter from one leg to another without using their hands.  lol.  They were laughing before they even started.

Our game host called this challenge “So you think you can dance”.  I also heard it before as “junk in the trunk”.  Here our bride-to-be went against Jeannette to shake the Ping-Pong balls out of the tissue box (without using hands).  Again…saving the embarrassing photos!  ha!

Mary Ann rocked the challenge to get 6 rings on her straw first.  No hands.

And everyone got a prize for being a good sport!

To end the day, here’s Kayla opening one of her many wonderful gifts.  We are so blessed to have great friends and family!

    Have a sweet day!

    the greatest gift

I’m sharing another Christmas in July card on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog today.  This card uses three new Christmas sets called Christmas Morn, Jesus is Born, and Christmas Innies.  They are wonderful sets for jump-starting your holiday card making.

A circle punch was used to create an opening in the card front in which the popped up sentiment shows through.  An additional sentiment was also stamped on the inside.

I hope this inspires you to get some Christmas cards ready.  Have a great Monday!

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy Christmas Morn, Jesus is Born, and Christmas Innies; paper- SU! Gumball Green, black, vanilla, Bo Bunny ST. Nick Mistle Toe; ink- Gumball Green, Versafine Black; accessories- Sizzix Merry Christmas #2 embossing folder, circle punches, Martha Stewart Traditional Scallop Edge punch, SU! Tag Topper punch.
