Hello friends and happy Thursday!

I am not a coffee drinker but I have lots of friends who are.  The Ai Cathy Caffeine Set (4322) that I used on my card today is perfect for all those coffee lovers out there!  Even though I am not a fan of coffee, I still love this cute gal with her huge cuppa!  She’s so cute!  I’ll just pretend mine has tea or hot cocoa. lol.

paper napkin background

Hello!  It’s Tutorial Monday on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog and today I am sharing how I made the background for my card.  Here it is completed…

our refuge napkin bg diane zechman

I used a butterfly from SNSS’s New Creature and the words are from Our Refuge.  I also used one of the coordinating New Creature butterfly dies.

My background was made with a pretty paper napkin that I’ve had left over from some occasion for quite a few years.  I guess they were too pretty to throw away!

First, open the napkin.  You can get quite a bit of use from just one.  For this project, I made 4 backgrounds from 1 napkin.

As you can see the edges were a bit worn but that’s ok…I discarded the edges and just used the center from this one anyway.

Next, grab a corner and gently peel off the top layer.  Discard the un-printed layer underneath.

Now cut a piece of scrap cardstock the size of the background you want.  You can cover it with double-sided adhesive but I prefer to just add Elmer’s glue and then spread it with my finger until the entire piece is covered.  Using the liquid glue gives it more of a linen look.

Make sure your edges are covered with glue and then lay your napkin on top.  Pat it down and let it dry completely.  Then trim the extra napkin from the cardstock layer and adhere to your card base.

I stamped the sentiment on a strip of vellum and wrapped it around the floral background, adhering each side of the vellum to the back.  Then I stamped, diecut, and sponged ink onto the butterfly.  Clear Wink of Stella made the butterfly sparkly.  Add a few rhinestones and you are done!

Have a great week!

you are an angel

Good morning!  The current Art Impressions challenge is a bit of a tricky one!  This time Kate wants to see how creative you can be using Christmas stamps to make a non-Christmas card.  Check out the Ai Create With Christmas Challenge!

I used a sweet angel called Hope Angel (4179) to use a Christmas image in another way.

This would make a great thank you card, don’t you think?  I paper pieced her dress and then made my own sentiment with an old Dymo label maker and some navy label tape (the old embossing kind).

Be sure to see all the great DT samples on the Ai blog and join us in the Create With Christmas Challenge.  Check it out and play along…you could win some awesome Ai stamps!

picture perfect

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

Today I am sharing a card on the Art Impressions blog using the Ai Picture Perfect Set (4130). These gals are having fun and want to capture the moment!

picture perfect 1a diane zechman

I used a cute camera embossing folder and some photo themed papers to create some background layers to coordinate with the image.  I love how fun this image is…here’s a close up.

picture perfect 1b diane zechman

I also found a tiny instant photo die in my stash…this was the perfect opportunity to use it!  I could only fit 2 faces on so I guess the 2 ladies in the back tried unsuccessfully to photo-bomb.  (They need a selfie stick I guess!)  LOL.

picture perfect 1c diane zechman

I ran out of room on the front so my sentiment went to the inside…which is a good reason to use up some scraps of paper!

get off the sidewalk

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

Today I am sharing another card on the Art Impressions blog with more fun and hilarious stamps…you gotta LOVE this gal on the scooter!  She is from the Mad Rider Set (4101) and the awesome sentiment on the inside is from Get Off Sidewalk (2628). Ha!

get off sidewalk diane zechman

She is one sassy driver!

The sidewalk was drawn around her with a Black Micron pen and a clear ruler.  Then I fussy cut around them.  (I was so upset that I forgot to cut out the white from inside the image before I glued it down.  Ugh! I think it may have been too busy with the print behind it anyway.)  The sidewalk was glued down onto the layers but the top portion was popped with dimensionals.  You can see how I attached it in the side view…

I decided not to add my sentiment to the front of the card since it was busy enough.  So I added a strip of the trees inside to match the front and then placed my sentiment inside.

sew thoughtful

Hello friends!  Where has June gone?  I can’t believe the month is almost over.

Today I have a card to share with Sweet ‘n Sassy’s sweet Cocoa mouse.  I made this card quite some time ago but never got around to sharing it.  This image and sentiment is from Sew Happy Cocoa.

The stitching was done on my sewing machine…it was acting a little wonky at the time but I ended up liking the not-so-perfect stitches.  The button border is a punch.

If you like Cocoa Mouse, check out all the sets available in the SNSS store.

Hope you have a fabulous week!

I sponged ink over a ray stencil to create my background and draw attention to her infectious laughter.  Here she is a bit closer.
