faux pressed flowers

Happy weekend!  Where does the time go?  This week flew by very quickly!

I am just popping in with my last project from the shoebox event I attended recently.  This is my ATC swap (artist trading cards).  If you are not familiar with ATC’s, they are 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″.  It is fun to work on the smaller size and see what everyone else creates too.  I used the Faux Pressed Flower technique to make mine.

I started by attaching a piece of paper lace doily to the bottom corner and then I stamped the leaves and added the paper flowers.  I tried an embossing folder with a tighter pattern but it was a bit too busy on this and it was harder to read the words.  I kept the first pieces, though…maybe I’ll try to make some cards with them.

I’ll be sharing some more shoebox and swap projects in May…I’m already looking forward to the next one!

stamps- SU! Best Blossoms and Bloomin’ Beautiful; paper- kraft, purple, white; ink- SU! Olive, Distress Vintage Photo; accessories- Primas, paper doilies, Cuttlebug Textile folder, EK Success Victorian Photo Corner punch, liquid pearls.

more candy corn cards

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend!  On Saturday I attended another SCS shoebox gathering.  Fun times!

I was real busy last week getting my swaps ready.  That meant making a bunch more of the candy corn cards.  This one was my shoebox project for the ladies at my table to make.

I used the C.C. Designs Mummy Trevor image here and I just happened to find a Cuttlebug gravestone die that I forgot I had…perfect!

The other candy corn card I made was smaller…this one was my ATC swap.  I reduced my A2 size pattern down to be 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches (ATC size).  And I stamped a face from the old SU! set…Fun Faces.  The teeth were colored in with a white gel pen and I couldn’t help but to add some wiggly eyes.  The words are from AmyR’s Autumn Sentiments.

Here’s the pattern I made for the ATC.  And in case the downloads aren’t working, I’ll also attach a jpeg image.  Just click on the thumbnail for a larger pic.

equivalents & substitutions

Is it a beautiful day today or what???  LOVE this weather!

The only yucky part of the day is the computer problems I’m havin’.  I hate those nasty bugs!  Hopefully I’ll be able to edit my pics soon but in the meantime, here’s a few that I haven’t shared yet.

These are my recipe and ATC swaps from the Buffalo gathering I attended 2 weeks ago.  This recipe swap was inspired by one a friend of mine had done.  I thought it was such a handy idea!

I printed everything out on vellum cardstock and used my Bumble B. Bear set.  (BTW, if you like recipe sets…I just wanted to let you know that ATS is retiring some of mine here.)

Here’s the back….I couldn’t fit it all on the front!

And here’s my ATC.  I stamped the old Coke image on glossy cardstock.  The background is an old Coke Ad that I printed off the internet.  Since it wasn’t on glossy paper, I attached a layer of acetate over the background ad with a glue dot.

…and here it is opened… I stamped the “memories definition” on top of the acetate.

Have a fabulous weekend!

embossing boards and an ATC

For years I have used a mini clipboard for heat embossing, to keep my fingers from getting burnt.  But the one I used had the other style clip on top and was awkward to clip your project on.  Recently I found this style clip on the mini board at Staples so I decided to “retire” my old one.

I used Stazon and Memento inks to stamp on it and then colored it in with my Copics.  Here I used the SU! sets Tote-ally Tess and Whimsical Alpha.

My initials were stamped in the corner on the first one but the second one was for a gift swap.  I didn’t know who the recipient would be, so I stamped the tote bag there instead.  To finish them off, I tied some cute felt buttons on with ribbon.

*hint- place a piece of aluminum foil over the board to deflect the heat back up to your image.

And this was my ATC swap.  I love the cute chocolate bunny stamp by SU!  And I just had to emboss them with chocolate scented embossing powder.  :0)

Here you can see the front and the inside.  It opens like a regular card.

a stair step ATC

Today I have another project to share from the gathering I went to on Saturday.  This is the ATC I created for our ATC swap.  If you aren’t familiar with ATC’S, it stands for Artist Trading Card.  They are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.

I decided to make mine a bit 3D this time and since I had fun creating a stair step card recently, I figured out the measurements to make it a miniature ATC size.  Here’s what I came up with, using my Ollie and Griselda set once again.  The shoes were paper pieced and boy was I tired of cutting out those curly shoes!  LOL.

Below is a side view so you can see the folds a little better.  I had to make 24 of these for the swap so I wanted to figure out the best measurements to avoid a lot of waste in scraps.  I pulled out some 12 x 12 cardstock and cut the base of the cards so that I started with a 3 1/2 x 6 piece of cardstock.  Then I scored the 6″ length @ 1 1/2, 3, 4, 5, and 5 1/2.  The scored lines are folded mountain and valley style to create the base.

And the last photo shows how the die cut bat was attached with a small strip of clear acetate.  I sandwiched the bottom between the cardstock and the punched border.

Tomorrow I have one more project I made with this set…and it is yummy!  😉

Headlines ATC

headlines-atc-diane-zechman.jpgIt’s Monday…and the sun is shining so it can’t be all that bad, can it?  Don’t forget to check out the ATS forum….tonight is the release of the new sets I posted the past few days!

Today I thought I’d share an ATC I made recently for a swap.  I started with the word stamp and designed my ATC around that.  I hoped that my ATC would look like a bed and I needed a pillow to go along with the theme.  I didn’t have any pillow stamps though and I couldn’t find any pillow clip art that I liked so I drew the pillow by hand.   Then I drew lines on the pillows with a liquid glue and applied white fun flock to look like corduroy material.  It still needed something else so I decided that the little AMuse teddy bear would look great on there.  I glittered his shirt with some Stickles to make him stand out.

headlines-atc-message-diane-zechman.jpgThe sheets on the bed were actually made into a little pocket.  Then I stamped and attached the words to the pillow so they slip into the pocket when the pillow is in place.  I have had this unmounted stamp with the words for several years now.  I picked it up at the Creative Mode booth at a stamp convention.  When I went to use it, I knew that the word corduroy was not spelled as it should be.   But I figured there must be two ways to spell it??  It wasn’t until now that I actually looked it up on dictionary.com and realized that the company did indeed spell it incorrectly.  They have already been swapped and I know that spelling can bug me, so I apologize to those who will receive this!  I plan to cut the stamp apart and fix it somehow.  It’s going on my to-do list!  Despite the mis-spelling, I hope the recipients get a little chuckle from it.  Have a great Monday!

owl & cherry ATC’s

cherry-atc-diane-zechman.jpg I was playing around the past few days making these Artist Trading Cards.  The small size is a lot of fun and a nice break from the normal A2 size card.  I ordered some cherry Card Scents from All That Scraps and it arrived today- just in time to finish up my ATC’s.  They smell so yummy now!  The bottle of scented liquid is simply brushed onto the edge of your card.  So easy!  I started out wanting to make an all white card with only the cherries in color but then I pulled out the Summer Picnic papers and added the strip of red.  I’m glad I changed it….I really like the red, black  and white combo with a bit of green!

owl-atc-diane-zechman.jpg

On the second ATC I used the rectangle Nestabilities and alcohol inks again.  The owl is from an Inkadinkado set I picked up a while ago and hadn’t had a chance to use yet.  It was stamped a second time on the glossy cardstock and popped up on dimensionals.  And the sentiment is from the C.C. Designs owl set.  I used some purple ink in the background with the blue but when I added more blue to make the “night sky” appearance a little darker, the purple became barely noticible.  I added the words in purple for a little contrast.

Cherry ATC:

stamps- Tart & Tangy, By Definition, That’s Nice

paper- White, Olive, Summer Picnic dp

ink- Black, Real Red, Olive

accessories- scallop punch, circle punch, cherry Card Scents- All That Scraps

Happy Heart ATC

Here’s one of some ATC’s I made with the new Happy Heart set. I made a mini pocket card with the sentiment on an insert that pulls out. The front was folded down for a flap and the bottom edge was cut with the Fiskars scallop edge scissors. The Scor-Pal was a great tool to help make the folds! This is a cute set and I like how it’s not limited to Valentine’s Day!
