Skeleton Wiggle Wobble (he glows!)

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am CASE-ing my DT friend, Renee, on the Art Impressions blog with a card using the Ai 4952- Skeleton Wiggle Wobble set.  (She shared her card last week)  The sentiment on the front of my card is from the Michael’s exclusive SC0680- Spare Me clear set.

Renee had the brilliant idea to create a spider web window on her card and I loved it so much that I wanted to re-create it on a card for my friend who has an October birthday and LOVES Halloween.  After seeing Renee’s card, I couldn’t even think of making mine any other way! lol.  It’s perfect!

I changed mine up a bit by making a different shaped window and adding a punched creepy fence to the front. I used the same cute mice punch but brought that to the front as well.

On the inside, the wobbly skeleton was assembled with mini brads and he is made EXTRA wobbly by adhering him to the card with a Mini Action Wobble.  I opted to skip his hat & bow tie this time.

Since I used a black card base and a dark patterned paper inside, it is difficult to sign the card.  My solution was to use the leftover pieces I die cut from the front window to adhere on the back for my message and signature.

Now, I didn’t give him a hat & bow tie for a reason….he GLOWS IN THE DARK!!!  So I didn’t want to cover up part of his head.  After I assembled all his parts with the mini brads, I used an old bottle of Glow-in-the-Dark fabric paint I had in my stash (for many moons!)  Mine was a pale yellow color which I didn’t see while searching but I did find the same brand with a Natural color which I’ve linked below.  I’m guessing the natural color would be better anyway!  Oh, and I didn’t forget the eyes in the little bat & spider die cuts….they glow too!

Here’s a quick little video to see the action!

I want to thank Renee for letting me CASE her card!  I enjoyed making this for my friend.  Have a great Monday and… happy stamping!

Magical Christmas MTF

Hello friends!  The current Ai Challenge is “Stamp a Scene” and we are featuring the new Art Impressions Mini TryFolds! Here I used 4930- Magical Christmas MTF.  These sets include matching dies to cut the openings so you can peek through to the inside.

Here’s the card completely closed. One die cuts the door so it can be opened (as shown above).  Another cuts the wreath which I’ve mounted with foam dots.

When you open the first fold, you see the fireplace. The third die cuts the opening in the fireplace.  Look who’s peeking through!

Here both sides are open to see the final image inside. I decided to add my sentiment there as well.

goofy things

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a card using a few “oldies but goodies” Ai stamps… 1933- Lillie, 1266- Falling Leaves, and 2637- Goofy Things. I’ve had this card in mind for a while and wanted to create it last fall but time slipped away so I was sure to make it this year!

Who can resist jumping in a pile of leaves?

To make it even more fun, I adhered Lillie with a Mini Action Wobble!  Her skirt was paper pieced with a scrap from Echo Park’s – The Story of Fall pad.

autumn anniversary

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a card using two Ai stamps from Hobby Lobby… 4920- Filled with Thanks (a new wood block) and a sentiment from AiCS27- Love Birds (clear set).

This fall image is part of the Windows to the World Collection and actually has some lovely words written around it.  I wanted to use it for an anniversary card, though, rather than a Thanksgiving one so I trimmed the words off.  This was colored with Copic markers and a few simple buttons finished it off.

Have a great Monday and… happy stamping!

kick up your heels!

Hello friends!  The current Ai Challenge is “Jiggle a Little” and we are featuring the FUN new Art Impressions line called Wiggle Wobbles! Here I used 4956- Cowboy Wiggle Wobble.  I also used the new 4967- WC Fence Dies and an old stamp from my collection… E1506- Haybale.

cowboy wiggle wobble diane zechman

How fun is this cowboy image? He makes a great masculine card. Each Wiggle Wobble stamp set comes with matching dies (they even cut the little holes for brads!), a few mini brads, and an Action Wobble to get you started.  You can see below how I mounted the cowboy onto the card with an Action Wobble behind his back.  Not only does he wiggle, but his legs “jiggle” too!

watercolor hello

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a card using the Ai 4867- WC Foliage Set 2 and 4052- WC Flower Set.  Is it October already? Fall is in the air but last week we still had 90° temps in NE PA!  I pulled out some summery inks, but wouldn’t this also be pretty in fall colors?

WC wreath diane zechman

I borrowed this layout from a card I saw quite some time ago but there was no info to give credit to.  I loved the simplicity of it!  Instead of using the watercolor images on watercolor paper, I stamped them onto white cardstock and skipped the water!  😉  I saw that Bonnie posted a video last week, also making a wreath!  How funny!  If you missed it, you can check out how Bonnie created hers here!

To get a nice shaped wreath, I traced two circles (using circle dies) onto scrap cardstock in the place I wanted the wreath to go. With the MISTI tool I aligned the stamps with the circles which made this super easy!

very merry Christmas

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Last week I shared a Halloween card with this same house image but today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a Christmas card using the Ai 4926- Holiday Mansion Set and 4927- HM Accessory Set.  If you haven’t started your holiday cards, it’s a good time to start thinking about them!  I like to make a few here and there, all year long, but this year I haven’t followed that plan very well. lol.  I did create this sweet holiday house, though.

CHA 7b diane zechman

Here’s a little tip…if you stamp an extra house and trim it a bit smaller (cutting off the chimney), then flip it over and use the backside, you can place it behind your finished house image so the background paper doesn’t show through.

CHA 7c diane zechman

The little Christmas images from the 4927- HM Accessory Set were added in the windows and doors.  I decided to place the tree in the yard instead of a window.  You can move the pieces to wherever you want!

to perfection

Hello!  Art Impressions teamed up again this year with Simon Says Stamp for the SSS Stamptember celebration.  Bonnie came up with another great set and it’s only available for a limited time on the SSS website, beginning today!

This is a really nice size image and I had a busy background so I kept layers/embellishments minimal. I just stamped the sentiment and added a little wood flower to accent.

Hello friends!  The current Ai Challenge is “Flowers & Foliage” and we are featuring the new Art Impressions Watercolor Release (all 10)! Here I used the following Art Impressions watercolor sets…

4962- WC Rustic Cabins Set, 4960- WC Fir Trees Set, 4966- WC Bird Bath Set, and 4051- WC Foliage Set.

I created this as a masculine card and even though that tiny dotted stripe in the background is pink, I think it still works!

Halloween mansion with tea light

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a Halloween card using the Ai 4926- Holiday Mansion Set, 4927- HM Accessory Set, and 4784- Old Bat Set (for the moon!).

CHA 6c diane zechman

When we were making samples of the new releases for display at the trade show, I was asked if I could make a Halloween version of the mansion in an easel type card with a battery operated tea light behind it.  What a fun challenge!

Since the mansion is quite tall, I kept the normal size of the card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2).  To create the base for it to sit on, I added a piece of 4 1/4 x 9 inch cardstock, scored at 5 1/2.  The 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 section of this piece was layered onto the card back (I just doubled the thickness of it).  The smaller section folds to the inside when closed and has the die cut wooden boards image popped up to hold the card front when the card is opened.

CHA 6d diane zechman

To create tinted windows and an eerie glow inside, I sponged purple ink onto both sides of a piece of vellum.  The windows and doors of the mansion were diecut and then it was held in place on the front with temporary tape so the openings could be traced. Once it was removed, the dies were lined up and cut a second time through the front layers.  The vellum was adhered to the back of the mansion and then the mansion was lined back up to the diecut openings on the card base.

CHA 6 diane zechman

Smaller elements from the 4927- HM Accessory Set were added and the moon is from the 4784- Old Bat Set.  Additional images and a sentiment were placed on the inside, along with the tea light.
