a clutch purse box

Hello.  Today I have a tutorial using Scor-Pal products to make a clutch style purse gift box.  I was inspired to create this by the clutch I had purchased for my daughter’s wedding.  This purse box is also a variation of two other projects… a Triangle Box by Deb Felts and a Mini Bag by Silvey.  Be sure to check those out too for more inspiration.  My handy-dandy Scor-Pal and beloved Scor-Tape made these a snap to create!  I couldn’t stop at just one…

Let’s get started!  The basic supplies used are the Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, sticky-back Velcro, and some cardstock or patterned paper.  Here I used 12 x 12 papers from the DCWV Autumn Melody stack.  Other supplies are only limited by your imagination and creativity in “dressing them up”.  I used a button, linen thread, ribbon, pearl ribbon slide, dimensional, Spellbinders Label 14, adhesive pearl, and a corner rounder.

Start with an 8 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock or patterned paper.

Score the 8 1/4″ side @ 2 1/8, 4 1/8, 6 1/4, and 6 3/8.

Next score the 8 1/2″ side @ 2 1/8 and 6 3/8.

Score additional diagonal lines as shown in purple in the diagram below.

Mountain and Valley fold the scored lines to form the purse.  See photo. *Note- if you want to add a ribbon strap, do that now.  See diagram below for placement.

Apply Scor-Tape to sections as indicated in photo.

Here’s a second diagram to show placement of adhesive and holes for optional ribbon strap.

Remove backing on the tape and fold each side in.  The purse will be flat.

Open the folds to look like this…

The top flap can be left as is, or cut/diecut/punched as desired.  Fold the top flap over and apply sticky-back Velcro or a magnet to close.

Decorate as desired.

Thanks for stopping in!  Have fun with them!
