faux cloisonne flowers

I have a card today that will probably seem a bit of a blast from the past.  While organizing a bit, I recently found the 2 flowers used on this card…all cut out and waiting to be used.  Problem is…they’ve been waiting a few years.  lol.  So long, in fact, that I didn’t even know where the stamp set was stored so it could be finished.  But that didn’t deter me…a few days later it was finally found.  :^)

These petals got me thinking about the style of cards I used to make so I thought it would be fun to create my card in that frame of mind.  I like to think that this is what my card would look like if finished “back then”.  I should try using the same set again and compare the difference.  hmmm.

The technique used is Faux Cloisonne and I believe it was originally supposed to be layered onto black cardstock but it really looks lovely used on any color.  I searched and found the tutorial here on Splitcoast if you want to check it out but basically you just emboss your images with gold ep onto glossy magazine pages..  There was a time when I had saved lots of pretty magazine pages to use…I wonder where they got to.
