a cardinal box cover

Yep, I made another tissue box cover.  This one was part of my gift swap at the stamping event I went to on Saturday.

This went together very quick and easy since I already had the basic box put together and the layers were cut.  These pieces were used in the video tutorial I made.  Then I diecut a frame for the bird and sponged a background.  The branches were stamped with a retired SU! set, Peaceful Wishes and the cardinal was made with the current SU! 2 Step Bird punch.  I don’t know who came up with the cardinal design first, but I love it!  Just punch an extra wing for the top of it’s head.  Instead of punching a black piece for it’s head, though, I just punched a template and sponged the black area.  A black micro brad makes a perfect eye.

After I packed this up with some other small gifts, I realized that I should have added some pearls to the die-cut panel.  I think that would have dressed it up a little more.

There have been some great tissue covers uploaded on Splitcoast so I’m glad to hear you all are enjoying this tutorial!  Keep the samples coming!  You can see the ones uploaded by checking out the Tissue Box Cover gallery or by searching for the words “tissue box” (there are a few there that were not placed in the gallery).
