playin’ with punches

It’s a beautiful day today!  The weather is perfect!  And it reminded me of this clean & simple card I made recently that I hadn’t had a chance to share yet.

I was just playin’ with some punches and kept it mostly black and white.

Short post…gotta go enjoy the sun!  Thanks for stopping by!

I want candy!

Today is my DH and I’s 25th anniversary!  Where does the time go??  I was planning to post the card I am giving him, but…ummm…it’s not quite finished yet.  LOL.  I got side-tracked on a few other projects.  ahem.

Soooo…here’s a card that I do have to share today.  All That Scraps is reviewing the Sweet November Baby Trick Or Treaters and I chose to use the sweet little dragon.  You can see all of today’s review cards on the ATS blog.

I paper pieced his dragon costume and popped him up with dimensionals.  This image is so sweet and reminds me of the dragon costume that I sewed many years ago.  Those sure were fun times!  But I don’t miss having to come up with costumes every year!  LOL.

I knew that I wanted to put something on the ground for him to look at and I found this treat bag image in my stash that did the trick.  I poked a tiny hole on each side and used a needle to insert a piece of thread for a handle.  Then I popped it up as well.  I thought he looked like he had the sweet face of wonder and excitement when you are ready to dump the goods and check out the loot!

Have a great Tuesday!

big birthday wishes

Hello friends!  Today we are celebrating a special birthday on the Stampavie DT blog.  Heidi, the owner, has a birthday this week and we all wanted to send her huge birthday wishes!  She is just the sweetest person to work for!  Be sure to check out all of the wonderful cards the DT created here.

This is the card I made for her…

a Vera Bradley bride

Get your sunglasses out!  ’cause it’s a bright one today!  ;^)

On Saturday I attended a bridal shower for my good friend’s daughter.  She fell in love with this Vera Bradley pattern and is using the colors in her wedding.  The bridal shower invite was sent with the same pattern on the invitations so when I received it, I carefully removed the pretty lining from the envelope and recycled it on this card.

I used the bouquet image from my own set, Special Day.  Some stitching and embellishments finished the card.  I tried to let most of the paper shine through and I think the bride was happy with it!

star gazing

Have you seen the new Christmas lines that are being introduced by Stampavie?  The new images are all soooo adorable!  I can’t choose a favorite, I love them all!

So for my first card, I just closed my eyes and picked one.  LOL.  This is called Star Gazing and it’s from the new Laurence Design collection.

This is a great image for quick cards.  Very little coloring is needed and you’re done!  I cut a frame with my Nestabilities, embossed it and popped it up with dimensionals.

tea for two…just for you!

Happy weekend!  We finally got a bit of rain yesterday and the temps are more enjoyable now!  It has been an unusually hot summer here!

In the summertime we drink lots of homemade iced tea.  But today my project is a little gift of hot tea.  I made this several months ago but couldn’t share it until now.  It’s a great project for any time of the year, though, and fall weather will soon be upon us!

I made a little tea bag book and here is the front cover.  I used the adorable Mouse In Teacup image by Tina Wenke.  It is so fitting for this project!  The image was cut out and popped up with dimensionals.

Here is a picture of the spine.  I couldn’t resist adding a little charm to dress it up.  😉

The inside has a piece of patterned paper that is scored, folded, glued and punched to make 2 little pockets for the tea bags.

I hope you like this project and will try it too!  I first made this type of tea bag holder about 5 years ago and at that time I drew up some directions for it.  Click on the thumbnail below to see how to make this Tea Bag Book yourself!

have a chirpy day!

Thanks for the well wishes!  I am still not back to normal and I’m patiently waiting to get into the ENT dept.  sigh.

But at least I have felt up to some stamping the past few days…that always cheers ya up!  😉  I missed the review preview over at All That Scraps for my new set…For The Birds.  Check out the great cards the DT made!  I am a bit late, but here’s the card I made.  I love how it turned out!  (I think I am now addicted to pinking scissors on craft cardstock.  LOL)

I also drug out my sewing machine which hasn’t seen the light of day for too long!  I ♥ to sew on cards so this was definitely a pick-me-up to my spirits lately.

I hope you have a chirpy day!

hello camper!

say-cheese-1-diane-zechman.jpg Just popping in with a quick post tonight.  I have been sick the past week and haven’t felt up to crafting.  🙁  I hope this week is better!

My last post was scheduled ahead of time, so it’s been a while since I’ve popped in here!  Anyway, here’s a simple card I hadn’t shared yet for a boy heading off to camp.  I thought these images from the Say Cheese set would fit the bill.

I wrote the name of his cabin and camp on the sign and I finally got a chance to use the cute PaperTrey Ink cloud dies.

That’s it for tonight…I hope you have a great week!

take a seat

Today at All That Scraps we are starting previews for Christine’s new kit called Take A Seat.  It will be released August 9 and it will only be available until September 20!  They will not be coming out as singles images this time, but you will be able to purchase them in digital as well as rubber.  The price will be 35% off retail, so get ’em while they’re hot!  LOL.

I used the Sitting Trevor image here as well as the Living Room Scene.  Don’t you just love that BIG chair?  Let me tell you, this stamp is huge!  And Trevor looks so dashing in his Sunday best, doesn’t he?  😉

take-a-seat-1-diane-zechman.jpg

The entire background was paper pieced except for the floor.  I drew the boards in with a black pen and then colored it with Copics.  The wall hangings were pieced from a pretty floral paper.  And Trevor’s shirt and pants were paper pieced as well.

Here’s a close-up.

Now go check out the other samples the DT has on the ATS blog!  You’ll love this set!

sweet dreams

How was your weekend?  I hope you enjoyed it!  We had a beautiful day Saturday and DH got some work done on the garage.  Later we went to see a movie…Despicable Me.  Cute movie!  It was a nice day on Sunday too.  Gotta love the weekends!

If you check out the Stampavie DT blog, you’ll see that Michelle’s posted her first card yesterday since her accident!  We’re all so glad that she is feeling much better!  If you haven’t checked out the sweet donkey image yet that Tina Wenke drew, you can see it here and learn how you can help us to support Michelle as she continues to mend!  You’ll love the donkey image!

And here’s a little something else you gotta love… Penny Johnson’s Sweet Dreams image.  I ♥ this little girl!

pj-sweet-dreams-diane-zechman.jpg

I paper pieced her nightgown and nightcap.  That is such a fun technique!

Here is a pic of the inside…it’s very simple but when I take time to finish the inside, it just adds to the whole card!
