a case of CASE-ing

Today I have a project to share that I made this week. I wanted to give a few co-workers a gift set of cards and this is what I made. I needed to get 6 sets done in 4 days though….(30 cards! why I do this to myself, I’ll never know. LOL). So once in a great while when I need to work in a hurry, it is a great help to CASE someone else’s creations! If you look up the definition of CASE, you will find quite a few ways it is used. But in the crafting world, it has a different meaning. Some people say it stands for Copy And Steal Everything. But I prefer to use it as…Copy And Share Everything, or Copy And Share with Everyone.
These cards were copied or greatly inspired by this set that I found on SCS.  And the tote was inspired by Leslie Miller’s tutorial.  I started with a slightly larger piece of cardstock though…(see below).  If you like what you see, please go leave these ladies a comment!  Note: Leslie’s tutorial is now missing and I’m not sure what her measurements were.  I have written directions below.

I followed Leslie’s measurements for the tote except I started with a piece of cardstock that was 6 1/2 x 11.  This just made the tote a bit taller.  The finished size is 4 1/2 x 5 3/4 x 3/4.  Five cards with envelopes fit perfectly.

 Start with a 6 1/2″ X 11″ piece of cardstock. Score the 11” side at 3/4″, 5 1/4″, 6”, and 10 1/2″. Turn and score the 6 1/2” side at 3/4″. Cut the bottom flaps on the vertical scored lines up to the 3/4” horizontal scored line.  Add additional layers to panels and punch or die cut a half circle at the top if desired. Fold and assemble box with strong adhesive. Adhere ribbon handles with strong tape or punch 2 holes in the front and back panels near the top and attach ribbon with brads. Embellish as desired.  Fill with matching cards and envelopes for a gift (about  5 fit nicely).

The yellow on the cards doesn’t seem to match in the photos due to the lighting.  But they are exactly the same IRL. 

I love the look of this stamp set!  And the recipients seemed to like them too.  🙂
