JOYful wishes

rfts-joy-diane-zechman.jpgAs promised, I have a new card to share today…with a new set!

Today we are previewing my new set at All That Scraps called Reason For The Season.  This set, along with the other new releases, will be available on Monday at 10 pm.

I chose to use the “joy” image and the star.  I was going to also add one of the sentiments, but I later decided to save that for the inside.

Be sure to check out the other samples on the ATS blog and enter for a chance to win this set.  ;)

stamps- Reason For The Season by Cookie Crumbs; paper- White, Black, Basic Grey Figgy Pudding; ink- Memento Black, SU! Baja Breeze; accessories- Mega Curved Rectangle Nestabilities, Copic markers, Burgundy Stickles.

an autumn anniversary

tw-mice-couple-diane-zechman.jpgOh, what a weekend it was.  Let’s just say that I don’t understand why people choose to drink and drive!  grrr.  Can we fast forward to Monday?  LOL.

I didn’t get very much done this weekend….I just don’t have the energy or mojo when I’m stressed.  But tonight I took a much needed stamping break and made this card.  I thought this image would be perfect for an Autumn Anniversary!

I didn’t use the entire image….I only colored the main part and cut it out.  You can see the whole stamp here

This card started out by using up some scraps I had lying around.  The Guava frame, black layer and dp leaves were all scraps leftover from previous projects.  I really need to clean out scraps again and just throw some things away!

The leaves are from the EK Success Falling Leaves border punch.  It was also used on the white layer underneath the main image.

I hope this week goes better!  And I hope you have a good week too!  Be sure to check out the samples at ATS this week…the sneaks for the October sets start on Tuesday!

stamps- Tina Wenke Mice Couple on Leaf by Stampavie, AmyR Love Sentiments; paper- Guava, Saffron, Black, White, scraps of dp; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Labels 3 Nestabilities, EK Success Falling Leaves border punch, Copics, gel pen, Stickles.

a beachy birthday

beachy-stair-step-diane-zechman.jpgHello!  Today I have a stair step card to share.  This is the first time I had a chance to try one.  And I have to say…they are a lot of fun!

A friend asked me to make a birthday card with a beach theme.  I wanted to make something special and I think the recipient liked it.  (hope so!)  This card is actually a duplicate of the one I made.  The original is exactly the same except it has a birthday greeting on the front.

You can find the directions to make this card here.  It is very simple though….just start with a piece of cardstock 5 1/2 x 10 1/2.  Then score it at 1 1/4, 2 1/2, 4 1/4, 6, and 8 1/4.  Fold it up mountain & valley style and decorate!

The front fold was wheeled with a seashell wheel (not SU!) and the rest of the card was stamped with little speckles to resemble sand.  The two little sand dollars are diecuts but you almost have to touch them to realize it.  The tiny shells by the diecut sand castle, however, are real….they were attached with bits of Scor-Tape.  And the fold in the back has a layer punched with the EK Success Beach Scene punch…love that punch!  I just colored over some of the punched images in that border with markers.

Here’s the nitty gritty….

stamps- SU! Sketches, Summer by the Sea and Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Rollagraph seashell wheel, AmyR Beach Sentiments; paper- Fossil, Vanilla; ink- SU! Caramel, Memento Black; accessories- Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol, sponge, ribbons, Primas, EK Success Beach Scene punch, Spellbinders Mega Curved Rectangles, Cuttlebug From The Sea die, real shells, stick-on pearls, pop dots, Sizzix sand castle, Scor-Tape.

Have a fabulous weekend!

chasing butterflies

Is it Friday yet?

hmmmmpf.  Anyone else get soooo frustrated when you try to deal with medical insurance?  grr.  I’ll spare you my bad mood and share a quick project…LOL.

I needed to make a quick notebook last week for a sweet little girl.  This came together rather quickly since I had the Butterfly Kitty image already colored.

emma-notebook-diane-zechman.jpg

And since I had two images already colored, I went ahead and made an extra card to keep on hand.  I really liked the simplicity of this.

dirty dinners

6x6-italian-chik-crm-sauce-diane-zechman.jpgWow…it’s another beautiful day again today!  We have had a great weekend weather-wise!  I hope you are enjoying your Sunday wherever you are!

Today is another challenge day for the SCS Dirty Dozen and Alumni.  Betty (gbedwright) challenged us with the theme of Dirty Dinners!  Yum…I enjoy checking out new recipes so I knew this was one I wouldn’t want to miss!  I also enjoy scrapping our favorite recipes in a 6×6 format and Betty’s challenge was just the incentive I needed to get another one done.  ;0)

Here’s Betty’s info:

Challenge: Dirty Dinner Recipe paper project. Share at least one tried and true prepared entree recipe in decorative paper crafting format of choice.

Restricted Element: There are NO restrictions…bring on the calories, carbs, fat grams, and sugars!!!! We can alter it on our own if need be.

Required Element: It must be something you have cooked and your family LOVED it!!!! Also, share a little bit about the history of this recipe and how it came to be.

Well, it wasn’t hard to think of which recipe to scrap!  This is one of my family’s favorite dinners.  I think I started cooking it a little over a year ago (can’t remember where it came from) and we have had it so many times that I’m surprised they aren’t sick of it yet.  LOL.  They keep requesting it and it’s so easy.  I wanted to try making the recipe in a Crock Pot shape since that is how the dish is prepared.  So here’s what I came up with…I hope it looks like a slow cooker!

I tried printing the recipe title onto acetate to resemble the glass lid but it wasn’t turning out very well in my printer.  So I pulled out some cardstock weight vellum instead and I think it worked pretty well.  First I drew a quick pattern and then I printed the recipe on red cardstock in the size I needed.  It was cut out in a rectangle and the bottom corners were rounded.  Then I used the SU! Word Window punch to make the handles and round the edges of the black rim.  Next I traced my lid pattern over the title and cut it out.  The top edge was lightly inked with black and I added a punched circle for the handle.  A smaller circle and a square brad were used for the knob to adjust the temperature.  (I could swear I had some triangle brads but where they are I don’t have a clue!)  To finish it off, I added a small strip to the base which I’m hoping resembles the cord.  The stamped images are from my Create A Recipe and Cupcake Occasions sets.

Here’s the recipe if you’d like to try it.  I always leave out the mushrooms since I’m the only one who cares for them but someday I might just sneak them in.  ;0)

Italian Chicken With Cream Sauce

Ingredients:

4-6 boneless chicken breast halves

2 envelopes dry Italian salad dressing mix

1/2 cup water

8 oz. cream cheese, softened

1 can Cream of Chicken Soup

4 oz. can mushrooms, drained

16 ounces frozen broccoli cuts

fettuccine noodles or rice

Directions:

Place chicken in the crock pot. Mix the salad dressing mix with the water and pour over the chicken. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours (on high if frozen).

Mix the cream cheese and soup. Stir in the mushroom and pour over the chicken. Add broccoli and cook for about 1-2 hours longer on high.

Prepare noodles or rice according to package directions.

Serve chicken and cream sauce over noodles or rice.

how about some Halloween Peeps?

OK, fess up…. who can resist the marshmallow Peeps?  Seriously?  :0)

They’re out there on the shelves for every holiday now…in all shapes and colors.  Delicious sugary goodness.  Somehow they always end up in the cart.  sigh.

So here’s what I did with the pumpkin Peeps…

halloween-peeps-diane-zechman.jpg

The cute puppy is a new C.C. Designs image from the Halloween Candy set.  He looks so sweet and innocent, doesn’t he?  He obviously hasn’t eaten too much sugar yet.  LOL.  You know what I’m talking about, don’t you?  Give the little ones too much sugar and…watch out!  he he.

I wanted to color the bones on his skeleton costume a bright green ’cause it reminded me of those glow-in-the-dark costumes that are so popular now.  Why didn’t they think of that when we were little?

This is only a cover for the front and sides…the back was not covered.  I just measured the front of the box and added 2 inches to each side.  (The box is 1″ deep).  Then I scored all sides at 1″.  It ends up looking like a box “lid”….make sense?  So I started with a piece of cardstock 7 1/8″ x 9 3/4″ and then scored each side at 1″.

Before glueing the sides together, I die cut and decorated the front.  First I attached the background dp and then I cut an opening with the Spellbinders Labels 6 die.  Since the width of the front is too wide to pass through the die cut machine, I had to improvise a bit…but it is easy.  Just place the die in the desired position on the box cover.  Then fold the side flaps up and overtop of the die.  The cutting edge will be facing down so there’s no worry of cutting the sides.  After your “window” is cut, decorate as desired.  Then slip it over your box of Peeps.  (assuming they are still uneaten)  ;0)

Here’s a close up of the main image…

Now go get yourself some Peeps!

Here’s a sneak peek of one of the samples included in this issue:

This will be one of my Christmas card designs this year.  I get bored making more than about 10 of each design, so I’ll be sharing more later.  LOL.

Have a great Wednesday!

the more cupcakes, the merrier!

tmtm-cupcakes-diane-zechman.jpgTonight I have a sick puppy on my lap…hopefully it’s just something she ate…she’s been sick all day.  So instead of photographing two projects I recently made (and really like),  :0)  I decided to upload this simple birthday card.  I already had this one edited.  And I can type and hold a sleepy puppy easier than trying to take some pics with her on my lap.  LOL.

This card is mostly SU! and the supplies that aren’t can easily be switched if you are an all SU! gal.  I have to say that I enjoy using supplies from all different types of companies and my heart goes out to my friends and others who are being forced by SU! to make a choice.  I still love some of SU!’s products, though and will continue to use them….sigh.

OK, moving on…  I kept this card pretty simple partly because I was short on time and partly because I wanted the cupcakes to be the main focus.  After layering them with the punched panel, I decided to continue the holes around the main image and pulled out my piercing tools to do so.

Hopefully Riley will be feeling better and I can get some more pics tomorrow!

stamps- SU! The More The Merrier and Crazy for Cupcakes; paper- Bermuda, Curry, Melon, Razzleberry, Soft Sky, PTI white; ink- Palette black; accessories- Copics, Martha Stewart embossed Zig Zag punch, piercing tools, Stickles.

a promise made & the getaway car!

This summer I needed several wedding cards and here are the two designs I came up with.

I made about 3 or 4 of this first card a few months ago but haven’t posted it yet ’cause I didn’t want one of my readers to see it.  ;0)

a promise made….I love that sentiment!

to-have-and-to-hold-diane-zechman.jpg

Here’s a close up of the rings.  They were attached with rolled glue dots.  It’s too hard to read in this picture but “I Love You” is inscribed in the one with the diamond.  It’s so sweet!  Sorry…I tried hard to get a better pic.

to-have-to-hold-rings-diane-zechman.jpg

And here is a side view so you can see how the layers were popped.

to-have-to-hold-side-diane-zechman.jpg

Here’s my second wedding card….it is very similar in colors and papers.

The Getaway Car….

This is such a fun image by Stampavie!  It is called Wedding Squirrels and is from the Tina Wenke collection

I couldn’t resist using another piece of that same dp when I saw it had the words “The Getaway Car” on it!  How perfect.

tw-wedding-squirrels-diane-zechman.jpg

The image was colored with Copics and I used chalks on the ground and sky for a softer appearance.

Some pearl stickers in the Prima flowers helped to “dress” this one up.  And I added the EK Success Parisian border along the bottom.  Love that punch!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

first card:

stamps- SU! To Have & To Hold; paper- PTI White, SU! Basic Gray, Flair Designs; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Cuttlebug Just My Type, Copics, Oval Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Lattice punch, Dress It Up Wedding Rings, glue dots, pop dots.

second card:

stamp-Tina Wenke Wedding Squirrels by Stampavie; paper- white, Basic Gray, Pink Pirouette, Flair Designs; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Copics, chalks, Oval Nestabilities, EK Success Parisian punch, Primas, pearl stickers.

EDIT:  I have had several questions about where to purchase the paper and rings.  I bought both of them at my local Ben Franklin store.  I did a quick search and found the paper here and the rings are here (this one is ebay).  I have never purchased from either of these venders before…I just found the links to help in your search.  Good luck and thanks for your comments.  :0)
