get well, little piggie!

get-well-pig-diane-zechman.jpgHello!  Today the ATS DT is previewing my new set, Get Well Critters

This sick little piggie is one of the images in the set, along with the matching sentiment.  There are a few other critters as well…a chicken, a puppy, 2 different bugs and a jar to place them in (which could be used for lots of other things too), a few smaller images and some fun sayings!  It is a pretty big set!

I can’t wait to see what the other ladies created!  I have to admit, I am really loving this set!  :0)  And I really need some get well cards to keep on hand to send when someone needs some cheering up.  So I think I’ll be using it quite a bit!

I guess I am still on a paper piecing kick…LOL…so I paper pieced the piggie’s bedding and used some coordinating patterns for the rest of the card.  This is also a good way to use up some of the papers we tend to collect.  ha ha.

Don’t forget to stop by the ATS blog and enter for a chance to win this set!  And we’d love to have you pop in the message board for a chat before the release.  These sets will all be available at 10 pm tomorrow night!

stamps- Get Well Critters by Cookie Crumbs; paper- Regal, brown, SU! Sweet Always dp; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Copic markers, oval punch, paper piercer.

Swiss Pixies thank you

swiss-pixies-gretel-diane-zechman.jpgChristine really rocked the sets this month!  Did you like the Fairy Junebug set that previewed on Wednesday?  If so, you’re gonna like the new girls too!  They are called Swiss Pixies and this one is named Gretel.  She is such a cutie!

The sentiment here is from AmyR’s Thank You Sentiments which will also be released on Monday.  I can’t tell you how long I have been wanting a nice set of thank you sentiments and this one is full of great stamps.

I thought the SU! Delicate Dots dp would work well with this girl and I decided to paper piece her jumper with the blue pattern.  The paper piecing technique is a lot of fun…especially when you use it on clothing.  If you haven’t tried this yet, go ahead…you’ll be hooked!

Check out more samples on the ATS blog and gallery!

ATS June sneak peeks

fairy-junebug-1-diane-zechman.jpgIt’s time again for some sneak peeks of the new C.C. Designs sets for June!

Today I have 2 pics to share…and there’s more to come.  (My new set will preview Sunday so be sure to check back!)

This new fairy set previewed yesterday…it is called Fairy Junebug.  Fairies are so popular now and this cutie is just adorable, isn’t she?

The short row of dots in the upper left and bottom right corners is also a stamp in this set.  I used one of the sentiments as well, but it is on the inside of my card since I ran out of room on the front.  LOL.

The pretty papers are from SU!….I purchased them from their paper sale.  I thought the bright, cheery colors would be perfect for this gal so I used those shades to color her in.  The image was stamped on Shimmery White cardstock so it has some sparkle.

stamps- Fairy Junebug by C. C. Designs, paper- Shimmery White, Regal Rose, SU! Sweet Always dp; ink- Palette Black Noir; accessories- Labels 4 Nestabilities, Copic markers, gel pen, ribbon, Primas, Stickles.

oh-baby-1-diane-zechman.jpgHow sweet is this baby, all bundled up?

This is from Christine’s first baby set…Gingersnaps Oh Baby!

I decided to paper piece the baby’s pouch with some Basic Grey dp.  And once again the main image was stamped on Shimmery White cardstock.  I love that shimmery paper and once in a while I pull it out and use it on several projects for a change of pace.

This is a simple card but I felt that it was needed with such a sweet, simple image!

Be sure to check out the ATS blog and gallery for more samples of these 2 sets and you can also enter to win one!

stamps- Gingersnaps Oh Baby! by C.C. Designs; paper- Shimmery White, Regal Rose, Celery, Basic Grey Eva; ink- Palette Black Noir; accessories- Oval Nestabilities, ribbon, gel pen, Cuttlebug Baby A2 folder.

tea time

Today I have a very special tea set to share with you.  I did not make these projects…they were a gift to me a few months ago.  Heidi Johnston, owner of Stampavie sent this to me for my birthday.  Wow!  Can you imagine my delight as I opened each piece that was carefully packaged up and sent from France?  I am still so amazed at all of the thought and details that Heidi put into this!

My first thought when I opened it up was “I can’t wait to share this with Linda“.  And I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to do so before she passed away.  Linda loved to have tea.  One day another friend and I went to her house to help her plan her last workshop and then we had tea.  I took this set along and we had a nice time.  It will always be a great memory.  Thank you again, Heidi for such a wonderful gift and one that was so perfect and fitting for a time I really needed it!

Sorry for such a long post today but I wanted to share several pics of Heidi’s amazing talent of 3D crafting!  Check back tomorrow…hopefully I’ll have a sneak peek of some of the soon-to-be-released sets for June at All That Scraps.

This first pic is a decorated bag that held some of my DT images…check out the tiny braided handle!

Here’s a close up of the bag…

And here is the birthday card Heidi sent….I love that vintage image!

heidis-card-dmz.jpg

This is a box made of chipboard, covered and decorated.  The lid is kept closed with a magnetic snap under the half circle flap on the side.

heidis-box-dmz.jpg

A close up of the box lid…notice the stitching, the pearls, the glazing on the die-cut flowers…

heidis-box-close-up-dmz.jpg

The inside of the box was lined with such pretty paper….and it held truffles!  :0)

heidis-box-inside-dmz.jpg

And to finish the set, Heidi decorated a jar and filled it with loose tea from France.  So perfect!

A close up of the tea jar lid…is this not gorgeous?

I can’t wait for Heidi to share more of her work on the Stampavie DT blog!  Be sure to stop by and say hello!

Have a wonderful day (even if it’s rainy like it is here!)

a buggy birthday

buggy-birthday-diane-zechman.jpgHello friends!

It is late and I have a sleeping puppy in my arms but I wanted to share this card yet tonight.  I made it recently for a nephew’s birthday and I thought this set would be a good one to use with the warmer weather we’ve been having and the bugs that have returned with it!

I bought this set quite a while ago and just now mounted it.  It is one that I’ve always thought was fun to use when stamping with friends who have it.  Here I paired it with some retired dp which is also a favorite.

I hope you are enjoying the Memorial Day weekend!  We had a nice picnic with family and it sure tired Riley out.  She slept the whole way home and slept all evening.  Have a good night!

stamps- Enjoy Every Moment, Bugs & Kisses, Small Sayings, AmyR Birthday Sentiments; paper- White, Black, Red, Bashful, Summer Picnic dp; ink- Palette Black Noir, Bashful, Olive, Pumpkin, Real Red; accessories- Photo Corner punch, gel pen, pop dots.

Tilda notepad holder

magnolia-notepad-diane-zechman.jpgI have several projects that I recently made and haven’t had time to upload yet.  This sticky note holder is one of them.

I started coloring the Tilda image when I was at the gathering in Buffalo a few weeks ago.  Cheryl and Lisa were doing a Copic demo and this was one of the images Cheryl brought for us to work on.  I only colored her skin at the time.  Then recently I pulled out this fun paper and used the colors in it to finish coloring her.

I had one of these acrylic frames handy and thought it would be a perfect way to use my Tilda image.  Every time I use the notes I will remember the fun day I had with friends.  The solid yellow cardstock on the bottom is embossed with flowers which the picture doesn’t show.  I also used a scrap of the same patterned paper to insert into the barrel of the pen.

stamps- Magnolia Tilda and Old Bench; paper- white, DCWV Spring matstack, Making Memories embossed yellow cardstock; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Copic markers, RSVP pen, acrylic photo frame, sticky note pad, ribbon.

an ornament and a recipe

soft-summer-ornament-diane-zechman.jpgDon’t ask me what these two things have in common.  Nothing really.  They are just two projects left from the gatherings I recently attended that I haven’t shared yet.

This first one was a tutorial on Splitcoast a few weeks ago.  It is rare that I try a tutorial right away, but I thought this was cool and tried it the day the newsletter went out!  You can find the directions here

I didn’t use markers on my project, though.  I never seemed to have good luck with regular markers on shrink plastic.  Instead, I stamped the outline with Stazon ink and colored the image with colored pencils.  This way it doesn’t smear when you roll it up to insert it into the glass ball.  This was a fun project to try and it is kinda cool to see it shrink inside the ball.

The shrink plastic was cut with my Nestabilities and then I outlined the edges with faux stitches using a fine point permanent marker.

stamps- Warm Words, Soft Summer; ink- Stazon Black; accessories- colored pencils, thread, glue dots, hole punch, shrink plastic, Labels 3 Nestabilities, clear glass ornament.

6x6-pie-crust-diane-zechman.jpgThe second project is another 6×6 recipe card.  This time I decided to scrap the pie crust recipe my MIL used to make.  It makes the best pie crust, IMO!

This is a very simple page but I was short on time (and mojo!) LOL.  I love the decorative paper, though, with the rolling pins on it!

The Whipper Snapper pie was stamped twice…once on the recipe layer and again on a piece of silver cardstock.  Then the pie pan was cut out of the silver paper and paper pieced on the first one.

stamps- Whipper Snapper Homemade Pie, SU! It’s All Good, Karen Foster Snap Stamps; paper- Red, White, Black, Silver, dp- Creative Imaginations; ink- Memento Black, Real Red; accessories- Copic markers, Photo Corner punch, Scallop Circle punch, Flower punch, button.

Have a great day!

It’s Stampavie challenge time again!

stampavie-challenge-logo-450x200.jpg

Check out the new Challenge at the Stampavie DT blog!  And enter to win a great prize!

sk-first-kiss-diane-zechman.jpgToday’s challenge is a color challenge.  We were asked to use light blue or turquoise and brown.

I chose to use the Sarah Kay First Kiss image.  Isn’t this one so sweet?  These images bring back memories of when I was a little girl and I liked the Holly Hobbies.  They’re just so charming and fun to color!

I paired the image with a simple sentiment….”smooches” from the AmyR Love Sentiments set.  And I pulled some of my favorite DCWV papers to use.

I also tried out the Spellbinders Flower Creations die.  I think I’m going to really like that one!  My first flower didn’t turn out as well as Lesa’s though.  LOL.  I don’t have the airbrush kit and I need lots of practice with the simple air tool I have!  Darn her for getting herself on the Spellbinders DT and using all those cute dies!  She’s hard on a person’s pocketbook.  *grin*

stamps- Sarah Kay First Kiss by Stampavie, AmyR Love Sentiments; paper- Bashful, White, tan, brown, green, dp- DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies; ink- Chocolate Chip, Black; accessories- Copic markers, Martha Stewart Scallop Dot punch, Cuttlebug Frills folder, eyelet, Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch, EK Success Daisy punch, Spellbinders Flower Creations, Inkworx Air Art tool.

Have a great Monday!

more Beachies!

beachies-ii-digi-diane-zechman.jpgTomorrow at All That Scraps, Christine will release 3 more Beachies…this time in digi.  The set is called Beachies II and they are adorable!

Here’s a sample of one of the images.  To see all 3, check out the ATS blog and gallery!

I had my Emma all colored and then found some fun polka-dot paper to match.  Usually I color after I choose the paper, but sometimes I change it up.

I wanted to emboss the pink panel but I couldn’t find a Cuttlebug folder I was happy with.  Then I remembered the long-neglected Fiskars texture plates I have and found the perfect wave pattern!  These plates do not emboss as deep as the Cuttlebug folders, but if you lightly wet your cardstock before embossing it, the impression comes out much better!  I just wet my hand under the faucet and wipe my fingers over the paper to get it slightly moistened.

Some Cuttlebug diecuts and Primas were added for accents and I just had to add a tiny Prima to her hair.  ;0)

digi image- Beachies II by C.C. Designs; stamp- AmyR Beach Sentiments; paper- Regal, Turquoise, Kiwi, White, dp by Making Memories; ink- Palette Black, white craft; accessories- Copic markers, Primas, Long Rectangle Nestabilities, Fiskars Ocean Texture Plate, Cuttlebug From The Sea, Stickles.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!  Tomorrow I’ll have a sample for the new Stampavie challenge.

Cow Tales…

ever have one?  Don’t ask me how they got their name.  dunnosmiley.gif  But I had a few and thought they would be perfect for my Tilly set!

cow-tales-diane-zechman.jpg

Today at All That Scraps we are reviewing Tilly.  And I thought the pencil pouch I made at Halloween one year would make a good treat holder for the Cow Tales.

The pencil pouch is so easy!  Just start with a 8″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock and score it lengthwise at 2 1/2″ and 5″.  Red Line tape works good to keep it together without popping apart when filled.  After assembling it, just punch half a circle on the end for an opening.

You can check out more samples of Tilly at the ATS blog and gallery.

stamps- Tilly by Cookie Crumbs; paper- Cocoa, Pumpkin, Vanilla, tan; ink- Palette Black; accessories- Copic markers, Circle punch, EK Success Dotted Wave punch, colored pencils.

Have a great Friday!
