sunflowers for you

sunflowers-4-u-diane-zechman.jpgJust a quick post with a card I made recently using the new SU! set A Flower For All Seasons.  And for those of you who only look for samples with SU! images, I added an SU! category in the sidebar.  I hope that makes it easier for you.

This is a pretty simple card.  The image was colored with Copic markers.  And the “thread” in the button is just a sliver of cardstock.  Have a great day- I hope the sun is shining wherever you are!

stamps- A Flower For All Seasons, Vases in Vogue

Review Preview Friday

witchy-treats-diane-zechman.jpgToday All That Scraps is having another Review Preview Friday.  This time we are reviewing the Sugarplum Halloween & Scene sets and also Amy’s Boutique.  I have two samples for you and be sure to check out the blog for links to more.

On this first card I used the Sugarplum sets.  I stamped the images onto shimmery white cardstock and colored everything with Copics except the black hat and cape which were watercolored.  Ever since I first saw Christine’s pumpkin images, I thought that they could double as treat bags.  So here I used the pumpkin for the bag, the vine for a ribbon to tie it shut, and the eye/nose image to make the candy corn!  I’m not sure if this witch is delivering or stealing treats…LOL.  Which do you think?

stamps- Sugarplum Halloween & Spooky Scenes- C.C. Designs

paper- Shimmery White, Galore, Black, KI Memories- Haunted

ink- Black, Only Orange, Summer Sun

accessories- Martha Stewart Spiderweb punch, gel pen, Copic markers, ribbon

Next I made a card using the Amy’s Boutique sets and the Sugarplum Halloween.

witchy-accessories-diane-zechman.jpg

This card turned a totally different direction than what I originally planned on.  I was going to paper piece this cute dress with some pretty floral paper but when I still had my Halloween sets out, I got the idea to make a little witchy dress.  :0)  I started with a base of glossy white cardstock.  The card on the left shows the outside of the card which reads “When in doubt…”.  And the card on the right shows the inside of the card which says “accessorize!”  The witch hat was masked from the image in the card above.  This is a very simple card but I like how it turned out.  The coloring on the inside was done with colored pencil since the card has no layers and I knew that my watercoloring or Copic markers would bleed through.

stamps- Amy’s Boutique, Boutique Sentiments- AmyR Stamps, Sugarplum Halloween- C.C. Designs

paper-  Glossy White, dp- KI Memories, K&Company

ink- Black

accessories- colored pencils

pink fuzzy slippers

my-rubber-ducky-1-diane-zechman.jpgTonight at All That Scraps, C.C. Designs is releasing a new set called My Rubber Ducky.  Christine just keeps pumping out one cute set after another!  For this project I used the bear and one of the sentiments.  The set also includes the monkey in a tub, a rubber ducky (of course), 3 more sentiments and some soap bubbles.  Here I made a little gift bag and card using the directions floating around on the web for the “box in a bag”.  I’m not sure where it originated from, but you can find the directions here.  The double sided designer papers are just perfect for this bag.  And I used some of my long neglected fibers on the bag tabs and the card.  Remember when the fibers were popular and we just had to have them?  OK, fess up…how many of you barely used yours too?  ;0)

my-rubber-ducky-1-closeup-diane-zechman.jpgIn this close-up you can see the slippers a bit better.  Now who wouldn’t love a pair of pink fuzzy slippers?  LOL.

I applied some liquid glue and pink fun flock to make them fuzzy.  It’s easy to work with and any kind of dimension seems to stand out on your project.  Her towel and cap were paper pieced with the same designer paper.  And I used a white gel pen on the cap, to give her some freckles, and to color in the bar of soap.

stamps- My Rubber Ducky- C.C. Designs

paper- White, Rose Red, non SU- Sand, Bali Breeze dp

ink- Black

accessories- eyelets, ribbon, fiber- EK Success, Copic markers, gel pen, Fun Flock, circle & Scallop Circle punches, Doily Lace punch- Martha Stewart, Round Tab punch, corner rounder

Cute Kitty

cute-kitty-1-diane-zechman.jpgYay!  My Rachelle Anne Miller stamps arrived!  I couldn’t decide which one to stamp first (they are all so yummy!) so I closed my eyes and picked one.  LOL.  This image is called Lily- Cute Kitty.  First I decided to make a gray kitty and then I chose the color of her dress to go with the gray.  I like pink and yellow together so my card evolved from there.  I was short on time to create this so I went with an old stand-by layout that I love to use when I don’t have time to think!  This is one of Michelle Wooderson’s layouts and starts with a 4×4 square of patterned paper.  I chose some sparkly pink paper by Die Cuts With a View.  The machine stitching looks black in the photo but it is really more of a chocolate brown.

I hope your week is going better than mine….it has just been crazy here.  But I should be back tomorrow with another card I made.

And please check my blog candy winner below…I don’t have any contact info for you!  If you sent me a message and I haven’t received it, please reply to my post.  Otherwise, I will need to choose another winner.  Thanks.

no layer baroque

no-layer-baroque-diane-zechman.jpgIt’s time again for the monthly SCS DD/DDA challenge.  This month Jami challenged us with the theme “Where did all the layers go?”  Here’s the deets:

Challenge Focus: Create a NO LAYER card any size, any color. Your card base is it - no additional layers of cardstock or designer paper at all.

Required Element: Masking - use masking or reverse masking in some way to create your design.

Restricted Element: No use of the color pink.

We were, however, allowed to use any embellishments we want.  Just no additional cardstock or papers.

Well, let me start off by saying that this card looked a lot better in my head!  LOL.  Creating a one layer card is not easy for me.  I first thought about dry embossing my background but then I changed my mind and decided to heat emboss all of my images.  I started with a Close to Cocoa card base and embossed the flourish with clear EP.  Then I added the little flowers by embossing them with a brown EP.  The word was embossed with white EP to give it some contrast.  At that point I went back to read the details again and was sooo thankful I put the pink EP back that I was going to use!!!  Eeek…I should have refreshed my memory before starting this project.  And what did that say?  I must use masking?  Uh oh….I was stumped.  After a lot of thought, I finally pulled out the small butterfly from the Cause for Celebration set and masked the left half with a post-it note.  I inked the right half with my Versamark pad.  It was then stamped and embossed with the white EP.  Whew…got the masking in there!  It still looked like it needed some finishing details so I machine stitched a border with brown thread and stitched a ribbon bow in the corner.  It’s not my best work, but I had fun with the challenge and that’s what is important, right?  ;)

You can check out all of the DD cards for this challenge here

stamps- Baroque Motifs, Cause for Celebration

paper- Close to Cocoa (that’s all!)

ink- Versamark

accessories- clear, white and chocolate EP, sewing machine, ribbon

ATS Review Preview and Blog Candy!

eeek-eeek-eeek-diane-zechman.jpg It’s Review Preview Friday again at All That Scraps!  Today we are reviewing the newly released set Spooky Spooky Spooky!  Lucky sure looks like he was spooked in this image, doesn’t he?  He’s so cute!  I decided to only give him a few brown spots this time and leave the rest of his fur uncolored.  The right side of the card was punched with the SU! Scallop Edge punch and dotted with black Stickles.  I also applied Stickles to the bat wings, the edge of the ribbon and a dot on the circles.  The paper is from KI Memories and the ribbon was found at Michaels last year.

Don’t forget to check out all of the other samples on the ATS blog and in the ATS gallery.

paper- Vanilla, Marigold, Black, KI Memories dp

Now for the important stuff!  LOL.  This time I have the pleasure of giving away some blog candy!  Just reply to this post and tell me which C.C. Designs image from the Halloween releases is your favorite.  (I love them all but if I had to pick just one, it would probably be the little devil.)  I’ll pick a winner on Tuesday to receive a $5 gift certificate to ATS!  :0)  Have a great weekend!

Big Bold embossed

bbb-clear-embossed-diane-zechman.jpgWhenever I need a birthday card for a teen, I usually grab this SU! set.  Big Bold Birthday is great for all ages though!  This time I decided to clear emboss the top and bottom pieces onto patterned paper with Versamark and clear EP.  Then I cut them out and pieced them together.  It was kinda blah though so I outlined them with some faux stitching to make it pop.  And to finish it off, I applied some Cupcake Card Scents to make it smell oh so yummy!  ;0)

stamps- Big Bold Birthday

paper- Celery, Regal, Choc. Chip, dp- Making Memories

ink- Versamark, Choc. Chip

accessories- clear EP, Scallop Border punch, gel pen, Stickles, Primas, Cupcake Card Scents

I used a dark brown thread for the machine stitching on this card.  And I found the fake dew drops in the clearance bin at Michael’s.  :0)
