flower window

water-lily-front-diane-zechman.jpgThis is a fun card that I started making while visiting a neighbor friend a few weeks ago.  I just now got around to finishing it!  My friend was making some cards similar to this with a circle punched window and a scallop punch frame.  I thought it would be a cute flower so I added two more punched flowers beside it.  The butterfly shows through the flower window so I needed some images that would co-ordinate for the other two flowers.  I decided to use some images from the SU! Time Well Spent set for the centers and I stamped them all some stems as well.  The words were done on the computer and punched out.  Then I added some Stickles and doodling.

water-lily-skiing-diane-zechman.jpgWhen you open the card, you can see the entire Penny Black image.  I borrowed the image from my friend.  In fact, stamping the mouse was the only part I got done that night.  I’m glad I found time to finish it!

Love & Happiness frame

rub-ons-frame-diane-zechman.jpgIs there anyone else who barely touched their Love & Happiness rub ons from SU’s Sale-A-Bration?  Or am I the only one?  😉

This is a stitched denim frame that I received as a prize at a shower a few years ago.  I still hadn’t placed a photo in it so I decided to alter it a bit with some rub ons.  Now I need to find the perfect picture to put in there!

Not much else to say about it…no stamping involved.  Super simple project!

Check back on Thursday as I will have some sneak peeks for the August C.C. Designs images.  They are super cute!  🙂

Edit to add:  Christine has been super busy with moving her inventory so the new sets will not be released until Aug. 11.  Check in on the 7th for a preview!

ATS contest & Paper Crafts ad

Happy Saturday!  I don’t have any cards to share with you today, but I wanted to let you know that All That Scraps is having a contest.  Christine is moving her inventory since the store has grown.  Now that she has more space, she would like some input and is giving away a prize.  You can check out the details here

Also, check out page 98 of the August/September Paper Crafts mag.  I was “sort-of” published!  One of the cards I designed for Whipper Snapper was used in the Addicted To Rubber Stamps ad.  My card is the one on the bottom right.  🙂  What a neat surprise!

birthday wishes

bbb-dtgd08.jpgYesterday I got a last minute request for 2 cupcake cards.  So I was glad they fit Taylor’s challenge for today!  I hope to come back and catch up on some of the challenges I missed.  Have any of you had the chance to do them all so far?

I used some of the new SU In Colors on this card along with some K & Company paper that came in a Valentine pack at Target.  I have used this stamp set so many times.  I sure got my money’s worth out of it!  It is such a cute set for all ages and is perfect for teens which I have a hard time finding images for!

The cupcake top was cut out and popped up on dimensionals.  And the inside has a pocket for a gift card or money.  You can see the pocket on the second card laying underneath the sample.  You start with a normal size card base (8 1/2 x 5 1/2) but score it at 3 1/2 and 7 inches to make the pocket.

I hope you have a great weekend!

sweet as can be

sweet-treats-3-diane-zechman.jpgI don’t know which is sweeter…the monkey or the ice cream.  😉  I made this card for Holly’s sketch challenge today.  I also used up the last of the sweet paper in Christine’s card kit that goes along with the Sweet Treats stamp set.   I was a bit disappointed that the scrap of brown I had left wasn’t large enough to mat the entire image.  But I decided to die cut it anyway and see how it looked with a partial mat.  I think it turned out rather cute.  Sometimes the little curves that get thrown at you tend to stretch your imagination a bit and try new things!

While you are checking out the challenges today, I have another link for you to check as well.  SCS is having a Non-Raffle for the Midwest Flood Relief.  All proceeds will be going to the Red Cross in the midwest.  You can check out the details here.  And….there will be prizes!  Several companies and individuals (including myself) are donating prizes to help out.  Isn’t SCS a wonderful community?  I’m so glad to be a part of it!  You can check out the gallery of great prizes here

a Wednesday challenge

window-dressing-1-diane-zechman.jpgHi all!  I hope you are having fun with the challenges this week at Splitcoast!  Today’s card is for Lauren’s challenge.  I didn’t get a chance to do Jenn’s challenge but I might try to catch up on it later.  It looks like a fun one!  If you are a fan club member, you can check out today’s challenges here

I got out my new SU! color, Riding Hood Red, and the new Bella Rose paper to make this monochromatic card.  I also added one of the new buttons in the RH Red color.  The stamp set used here is called Window Dressing and will be available in the new catalog as well.  It sure is cute!  I also added a few Lizzie Anne stitches and dots.  I think my favorite part is the way the sentiment fit perfectly around the corner of the window!

two for Tuesday

summertime-fun-2-diane-zechman.jpgToday I have 2 cards that I made for the Tuesday DD challenges.  The first one I made for both Michelle and Christine’s challenges.  It may be a bit of a stretch for a masculine card though.  I used some sparkly papers from the DCWV Summer Glitter matstack.  I tore the top edge of the beige one to resemble a sandy shoreline.  And I thought the surfboard paper would be perfect for this C.C. Designs image!  In the bottom left corner is a scrap that was left from cutting out the flourishes I’ve used lately.  I thought it would make a good accent.

stamps- Summertime Fun- C.C. Designs

paper- Ballet, Galore, Choc. Chip, watercolor paper, DCWV- Summer Glitter matstack

ink- Black, Ballet, Galore, Real Red, Cocoa

accessories- QuiKutz flourish die, Stickles

serene-spring-1-diane-zechman.jpgMy second card was made for JulieHRR’s challenge.  The card base is shimmery white cardstock.  This is one of those cards that looks so much better in person!  I hated to waste the vellum cardstock oval that I cut from my vellum frame on yesterday’s card.  So I stamped my main image (a new catalog preview) on it and colored the reverse side with Copic markers.  The bird was stamped, colored, cut out and layered onto the front of the vellum.  On the edge of the cardfront I used the SU! scallop edge punch that will be available in the new catalog as well.  To finish it off I added a bit of ribbon, a pearl embellishment, and some dots of Liquid Pearls.

stamps- Serene Spring

paper- Shimmery White, Vellum cardstock

ink- Black

accessories- Copic markers, Oval Nestabilities, pearl embellishment, Scallop Border punch, ribbon, liquid pearls

another Monday challenge

a-kiss-for-chloe-1-diane-zechman.jpgHere’s one more card I made for today’s DD challenges at Splitcoast.  This one is for Laurie’s challenge.  If you scroll down, you can see the card I made for Jody’s challenge.   And there’s also a link in the post below if you aren’t a fan club member, but would like to join and jump in on the fun.

There was so much more I wanted to do with this card, but in the end I liked the simplicity and left most of the embellishments off.  I only added the single Prima and flourishes to keep the main focus on the embossed vellum frame and the sweet image.  I think each Stampavie image I work with is cuter than the last- I love them!  I cut my vellum frame on this card with my oval Nestabilities and then embossed it with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  The heavier cardstock weight vellum worked great for this.  And I am still having fun with the Choc. Chip flourishes I die cut a few days ago!  You will probably see them show up on a card again tomorrow.  😉

stamps- Sarah Kay- A Kiss for Chloe by Stampavie

paper- Orchid, Choc. Chip, White, vellum cardstock

ink- Black

accessories- Oval Nestabilities, eyelets, Prima, CB Swiss Dots embossing folder, Stickles, QuiKutz flourishes

Dare To Get Dirty 08

dtgd08jody-diane-zechman.jpgIt’s time again for the Splitcoaststampers community to celebrate the anniversary of their fan club.  And you are invited to play along!  The Dirty Dozen and DD Alumni have been busy preparing some fun challenges for you.  “A Day in the Life of a Dirty Girl” is the theme for this year’s Dare to Get Dirty Challenge week. The fun lasts a whole week, from July 21-27.  And Jenn has some prizes planned too!  You can read some more of her info here.  I sure hope you play along…it will be lots of fun!  If you are not a fan club member, you can find out how to join here.

This is my sample for Jody’s challenge today.  I hope you like it!  You can check out all of the other samples in the DTGD gallery.

Christmas in July

I made this set for lulu-christmas-diane-zechman.jpgEmily‘s One Sheet Challenge.  Some of the Dirty Dozen who are missing the fun at CHA are having their own fun back home.  If you would like to play along, check out Emily’s challenge, Holly’s sketch, and my sketch.  We’d love to have you join us!

This challenge is similar to the One Sheet wonders but with no pattern.  She just said to pick an old piece of patterned paper and use it.  So I thought it would be a great time to get some Christmas cards done!  I cut my sheet of 12×12 paper into 9- 4″ squares so I could get 9 cards out of it.  This is an easy way to get a quick set of cards done!  I chose Lulu’s Sweet Delights for my image and words.  Then I added some Lizzie Anne Stitches.

Have a great weekend & stay cool!   weathermanf1.gif
