Nesties

Published by diane (cookiestamper) under cards, etc.

I finally broke down and ordered a set of the Nestabilities!  I loved all of the cards I saw with them but I still wasn’t sure how much I would use them.  After my first try though, I really liked them!  I guess I’ll have to save some pennies and try another shape sometime.  I cut the rectangle for the main image from a piece of glossy cardstock.  Then I applied some Alcohol inks and stamped the bird image in black.  The bird was stamped again on glossy cs, cut out and popped up.  The Bashful Blue layer was cut in half, and the lower piece was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  The embellishments on the ribbon are some Dew Drop type things that were a gift from a friend.  I really like the colors on this card!  I just threw the 2 colors of Alcohol inks together and really liked the results.  So the card evolved from there.

Have a blessed day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

el-2-way-open-diane-zechman.jpg

Happy Mother’s Day, my friends!  I made some cards for our moms just like this one but used Happy Mother’s Day words instead.  This card design was a technique challenge on Splitcoast.  You can find the directions here.  I love this design- it makes a fun card!  The base of mine is a 4 1/4″ square.  You can see in the second pic how the triangular portion folds open and then the inside unfolds as well.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

6 x 6 dill dip

6x6-dill-dip-diane-zechman.jpgSorry I’ve haven’t posted lately!  It’s been a busy week.  Among other things going on, I had Jury duty again.  It’s always interesting and I really don’t mind going.  It just throws a little wrench into my routine, but that’s ok.  I have also been busy getting a few projects ready for another gathering coming up soon.  I wasn’t originally planning on attending this one since I knew I’d be busy.  But someone wasn’t able to come and they had a spot they were looking to fill.  I really enjoy getting together with my NY friends, so I changed my mind.  I am filling in a spot in a recipe swap and this is what I came up with.  It’s my family’s favorite dip…I’ve made it so many times over the years and I never measure the ingredients anymore.  When I saw this flower in the Garden Silhouettes set, I thought it looked like dill weed.  I have been wanting to use it with this recipe for a while….I’m glad I finally made them!  Don’t ask me what the frogs have to do with dill….except maybe they are both green.  LOL.  But I thought they would make a fun page.  The frogs on the top are a retired SU! wheel and the bee, butterfly and frog on the bottom are from a Cuttlebug die.  I used markers to color portions of them and added a little Stickles to the bee & butterfly.  The recipe words are computer generated with the Scrap Baby font found here.  It’s on sale right now for $1 if you want to check it out.

Have a great day!

Fabulous Frankie!

frankie-1-diane-zechman.jpgOnly one more day until the release of C.C. Designs’ new sets!  This gal is Frankie.  Honestly, I think I’d die before being seen out in public with those pants…LOL!  But somehow, she just looks so hip and cool!   ;)  I kept wanting to add “a little something” more to this card but in the end, I like it just the way it is.  This cardstock is really fabulous in person and stands out on it’s own.  My friend Judy was placing an order from cutcardstock.com so I thought I’d try some of this.  It’s Sorbet Duplex in the Blue Ice / Cappucino color.  One side is a great brown color and the other side is a cool blue (not as bright as it seems in the pic).  I punched the right edge so the brown from the inside shows through.  It’s a little pricey, but I love it…it will be great for an occasional “special” card.  The dp, Primas and ribbon are from All That Scraps.  Frankie was colored with the few Copic markers I got….I already need more!

Gwenny!

gwenny-1-diane-zechman.jpg Here’s Gwenny!  She’s an ultra-hip friend of Shari and Frankie (who I’ll introduce tomorrow!).  I started with a whole sheet of cardstock and used my Scor-Pal to make a brochure fold card.  It will fit into a standard business envelope.  The pic doesn’t show all of the glitz on this card.  The papers are sparkly and I added some shimmer to Gwenny and the word with a clear glitter pen.  The oval cutout and word tag were made with Cuttlebug dies.  The image was colored with Copic markers and I also edged the tag with a marker.  Sorry for a short post again, but I have quite a few guests for dinner tonight so I have a lot to do!  Have a great day!

meet Shari!

shari-1-diane-zechman.jpgThis gal has some serious bling on her finger!  Her name is Shari and she will be released on Sunday over at All That Scraps, along with a few of her friends.  They will come in a CD tin set called Glam Girls and I think they will be sold separately as well.

I stamped the words “you are” on the outside and “fabulous” on the inside.  Shari was colored with some Copic markers (I need practice!) that I purchased at the LSS in Buffalo last weekend.  I sold a few stamps I no longer needed and decided to try a few markers.  I didn’t have an orange one so I used my SU! Pumpkin marker for her shirt.  All of the supplies for this card can be found on the All That Scraps website (except the machine stitching, of course, but you could use the paper piercer and stitch by hand).  I used the Cuttlebug arrows and photo corners dies which can be found there as well.  I thought about adding some bling to the center of the flowers but didn’t want to detract from the ring on her finger.  So I punched some tiny flowers from the paper instead to add to the centers.
