Layla

layla-1-diane-zechman.jpgAll That Scraps is gearing up for another new release on Wednesday.  This gal’s name is Layla and she is just passing by with a “hello”.  I colored her with a mix of SU! and Copic markers since I still only have a handful of the Copics.  The patterned paper is by Autumn Leaves and can be found at All That Scraps as well.  Check back for more sneak peeks of another gal (hopefully tomorrow) and a super cute set on Monday!

The circular pierced holes were made using a round piece of plastic canvas for a template.  I don’t remember where I saw this idea, but it is great!  I used the regular plastic canvas for a while now, but I didn’t realize there were circle pieces!  I needed something to help draw attention to the word and I think this worked nicely.

stamps- Layla & word by C.C. Designs

paper- Ruby, Teal, Artichoke, White, Mod Bloom Zoom by Autumn Leaves

ink- Black, SU! and Copic markers

Vases in Vogue

Published by diane (cookiestamper) under cards, etc.

pink-gray-vogue-diane-zechman.jpgThis is such a cute set…can you believe I finally mounted it?  I am anxious to use it some more.  I love the versatility it has!  I haven’t used my Basic Gray paper in a while either so I pulled that out as well.  And pink just goes so well with gray.  ;)   I keep thinking that it needs a band of ribbon around the bottom piece of gray….what do you think?  I also like the simplicity of it though so I may leave it as is.  The gray piece was punched with the Martha Stewart Cornice Edge punch.  And the vase was stamped a second time and popped up on dimensionals.  The background was made with the SU! Rough Texture wheel.  I wheeled it in both directions.

stamps- Vases in Vogue, Rough Texture wheel

paper- Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink, Bashful, non-SU

ink- Basic Gray, Rose Red

accessories- Martha Stewart Cornice Edge punch, pop dots, gel pen

another Peek-A-Boo card

hb-peek-a-boo-diane-zechman.jpgI just love this card design, can you tell?  (Thanks, Linda for sharing it with me!)  Check out this post for a link to the instructions.  It is definitely a fun card to open!  This time I used Anna Wight’s Happy Birthday set.  Her images just make me smile!  Love ‘em!  As you can see in the first photo, the cupcake image shows through the windows when closed.  The words Happy Birthday were punched with the Word Window punch, then layered onto a circle punch and the Designer Label punch.  I also stamped the tiny cupcake on the envelope.  I like this Wasabi, Guava, Blush and Saffron combination!  I noticed it here on Kristina Werner’s blog post.  This was a fun color combo.

hb-peek-a-boo-2-diane-zechman.jpgWhen the card is opened, the words “wish BIG!” with her single candle slide into the window, covering up the cupcake image.  The tiny cupcake was also stamped and layered on the inside.  Of course, Stickles was added everywhere….gotta love Stickles!  ;)

stamps- Happy Birthday by Whipper Snapper

paper- Vanilla, Wasabi, Guava dp, Saffron

ink- Guava, Blush, Saffron, Wasabi

accessories- square punch, Mega scalloped square punch, Word Window punch, circle punches, Designer Label punch, gel pen, Stickles

altered mirror

gift-swap-mirror-diane-zechman.jpgI am behind on uploading a few projects.  This is a 4 x 6 oval mirror that I altered with the SAB rub-ons.  I found it at Michael’s and they come with the holes for hanging already drilled in them.  The ribbon attached was rather cheap looking though so I replaced it with some of my own and added a flower from Walmart.  The edge of the mirror has a scalloped look to it and I added some stick-on cell phone phone bling to each scallop.   Love the cell phone bling!  They are tiny, but they stick well with their self-adhesive backs.  The cost isn’t too bad either.  Have you priced the packages of gemstones lately?  They are quite expensive I think for the amount you get in a package.  But there are quite a few gems in the packs of cell phone bling.

Not a lot to say, except it is a very quick and easy project.  This was part of a gift swap I participated in a couple of weeks ago.

No stamps, paper or ink.

accessories- ribbon, paper roses, SU! Love & Happiness rub-ons, cell phone bling- Walmart

Birthday ribbons

birthday-ribbons-diane-zechman.jpgChristine at All That Scraps challenged us to make something with 3 different ribbons.  Mine are tiny…can you see them?  One is obviously wrapped around the card.  The other two were applied to the presents that were stamped a second time, cut out & popped up.  The main image was cut “out-of-the-box” style…. some of the extra white space was cut away and then I trimmed around the presents so they hang outside of the boxed area.

stamps- Stripes and It’s My Birthday by C.C.Designs

paper- Bashful, Saffron, Ruby, White

ink- Black, Bayou

Karen’s Faux Pocket card

Published by diane (cookiestamper) under cards, etc.

stitched-faux-pocket-diane-zechman.jpgAt the CNY gathering last Saturday my friend Karen (kmk24) came up with a very cool card…..a faux pocket!  You can see her card here.  I tried making one today since I wasn’t sitting at her table.  Karen left some spaces blank so the ladies at her table could use it for any occasion and she punched a square window in the front which I neglected to do.  (I wasn’t following directions because I thought I remembered what it looked like)  Ha!

The front of the card is cut along the fold 1 1/2″ from the top and folded down.  I tied the ribbon (thanks, Linda T. for the ribbon!) under the flap.  The edge of the flap was also punched with the Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch… LOVE that punch…and it was lined with a bit of Bayou cardstock.  Then the Sierra Sand layer was attached and the flap was glued down.

This faux pocket card opens like a normal card and the “insert” is actually glued to the back.  Thanks, Karen, for sharing your great idea!

stamps- Stitched, Stitched Exotics, Vases in Vogue

paper- Soft Sky, Bayou, Guava, Sierra Sand

ink- Bayou, Soft Sky, Pomegranate, Wasabi

accessories- Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch, Round Tab punch, ribbon, clear gem brad, white gel pen

Whoo Hoo!

studio-g-owl-diane-zechman.jpg Jami challenged the Dirty Dozen and DD Alumni to create something with owls for May.  Owls are everywhere you look right now so this wasn’t too difficult.  It was actually a lot of fun since I had picked up the owl image in the dollar bin at Michael’s some time ago and it was still on my mental “to do list” to make something with it.  I think this image is super cute!  The words were in the dollar package as well.  Here are the rules Jami gave us:

Challenge Focus: Owls.

Required Element: Texture.

Restricted Element: No crystals/rhinestones or dew drop type embellishments.

For the required texture, I was inspired by Michele (Tillyhead) to pull out my long neglected crimper!  The Regal Rose layer was punched with the Giga Scallop square punch and then run several times through the crimper in both directions.  Then I smoothed it back out with my finger.  The owl was colored with Copics and then I doodled a frame around him.  This is a very simple card with the addition of some patterned paper.  You can check out all of the challenge projects here.

stamps- Studio G

paper- Choc. Chip, Regal Rose, Ruby, White, Sassafrass Lass dp

ink- Palette Black

accessories- Giga Scallop square punch, paper crimper, Copic markers, Circle punches, ribbon

pink bananas?

pink-bananas-diane-zechman.jpgChristine at All That Scraps challenged us to make a pink & brown card.  I’ve been wanting to use this monkey along with her new monkey words and bananas so here’s what I came up with.  I never had a pink banana but I bet they would be sweet!  ;)  The card base is actually Pretty in Pink and it only wraps a little around the front.  It is attached to an A2 piece of Choc. Chip cardstock which became the cardfront.  The white layer on the main image, the monkey and the bananas are all popped up on dimensionals.  Wow- those are skinny pieces of pop dots under there!  The monkey was stamped on a scrap of glossy cardstock with alcohol inks that was left over from another project.  When I added the dots around him with a brown marker, I must have accidentally touched the marker on his belly.  Somehow I made a dot exactly where a belly button would go!  LOL.  I realized when I was done that I strayed a bit…I forgot & used black ink instead of brown.  Ooops!

stamps- Monkey Love, words & bananas by C.C. Designs

paper- Choc. Chip, Pretty in Pink, Glossy White, Berry Bliss dp

ink- Black, Pretty in Pink, Choc. Chip, Close to Cocoa

accessories- Alcohol inks, Martha Stewart Cornice Edge punch, Mega & Giga Scallop punches, pop dots

“Peek-A-Boo” card

Published by diane (cookiestamper) under cards, etc.

orange-you-sweet-outside-diane-zechman.jpgYesterday was another fun day at the CNY gathering in Syracuse!  My friend Linda shared this really fun card design with me and I decided to use it for my shoebox project.   Michelle Ide wrote a tutorial for this “Peek-A-Boo” style card and the directions can be found here.  A window is created in both the front & the inside of the card which reveals a message when the card is opened.  Very cool!  The first pic shows how the card I made looks when it is closed with the image of the orange peeking through.  I created the sentiment “orange you sweet” on the computer to fit inside the SU! oval punch.  And the frame around the window was punched from SU Summer Picnic paper with square and Mega scalloped square punches.

orange-you-sweet-inside-diane-zechman.jpg

The second pic shows the card with the words sliding in front of the orange image as it is opened.  When the card is fully open the orange is hidden and the words “thank you” show through the window.  I’m not sure where the white paper is from….I purchased it several years ago.  It has a slight texture to it and is a heavier cardstock.  I chose to use this to make a sturdier card base.

stamps- Tart & Tangy, Happy Heart Day (inside words)

paper- Bashful, Summer Picnic dp, non-SU! white

ink- Pumpkin, Bordering

accessories- computer for front sentiment, ribbon, heart brads, oval punches, square punch, mega scallop square punch

owl & cherry ATC’s

Published by diane (cookiestamper) under ATC's

cherry-atc-diane-zechman.jpg I was playing around the past few days making these Artist Trading Cards.  The small size is a lot of fun and a nice break from the normal A2 size card.  I ordered some cherry Card Scents from All That Scraps and it arrived today- just in time to finish up my ATC’s.  They smell so yummy now!  The bottle of scented liquid is simply brushed onto the edge of your card.  So easy!  I started out wanting to make an all white card with only the cherries in color but then I pulled out the Summer Picnic papers and added the strip of red.  I’m glad I changed it….I really like the red, black  and white combo with a bit of green!

owl-atc-diane-zechman.jpg

On the second ATC I used the rectangle Nestabilities and alcohol inks again.  The owl is from an Inkadinkado set I picked up a while ago and hadn’t had a chance to use yet.  It was stamped a second time on the glossy cardstock and popped up on dimensionals.  And the sentiment is from the C.C. Designs owl set.  I used some purple ink in the background with the blue but when I added more blue to make the “night sky” appearance a little darker, the purple became barely noticible.  I added the words in purple for a little contrast.
