eat more cake!

Now doesn’t this bear look totally happy?  What more can you ask for than a tummy full of cake?  (or cookies)  :)  This Birthday Bear and the words (which are just perfect for him!) are by Whipper Snapper Designs.

I stamped the bear twice….once on the yellow patterned paper and again on white cardstock.  After watercoloring the bear I cut him out, keeping the plate attached.  Then I cut out the balloon separate and glued the pieces overtop of the image on the yellow layer.  The bottom of the cardfront was trimmed so that the words could be stamped on the inside of the back and still show when the card is closed.  The back was punched twice with the SU! slit punch and holds the front closed when it is tucked in the slit.  Two buttons were attached over the punched areas and I doodled on the photo corner punch.  A little Stickles finished it off.

shrinky chicky

shrinky-chicky-diane-zechman.jpg

I thought this chick image by C.C. Designs was just too cute with her boots and umbrella but she is even cuter 1 3/8″ tall!  :)  I stamped the chick onto shrink plastic with black Stazon, colored her with colored pencils and cut her out.  Then she went into the toaster oven to shrink.  note: I always lightly sand the shrink plastic to give it some “tooth” to grab color from the pencils.  If you don’t have anything handy to lightly sand with, just rub two pieces of shrink plastic together…it works just as great!

I started with a 4 1/4″ square card and attached a 4″ piece of SU! Berry Bliss paper.  Then I punched an opening in the cardfront with the SU! Key Tag punch and stuck the chick to the inside of the card with mini glue dots.  I added the words, some doodling and ribbon.  This makes a quick & cute card!

blue monkey

 its-my-birthday-1-diane-zechman.jpg

This cute monkey is another C.C. Designs newly released image. I wanted to do an out-of-the-box card with him and have the balloon floating out of the main panel, but I noticed that it was already done. So I decided to change his color and make him a blue monkey instead. The buttons are *supposed* to look like balloons with pierced holes for the “strings” but they don’t quite look the way I pictured them in my head. Oh well, they are a cute accent nonetheless. hehe. I added some Stickles to make the cupcake, hat and balloon sparkle. And I used a tracing wheel again around the main image. This cute layout is a sketch by AmyR.

Leah wonders

 leah-headache-diane-zechman.jpg

I just love this sentiment by Whipper Snapper! It makes you giggle, yet gives you something to think about at the same time! I thought it would be cute paired with Leah, another Whipper Snapper image. It looks like the poor kitty is the one getting a headache though.
You may not be able to see it well, but I made some dots around the main image with a tracing wheel used for sewing. It doesn’t quite pierce all the way through the paper. I remembered seeing a similar effect on one of Anna Wight’s cards. I don’t know what she used…. maybe it was the same tool?

twinkling butterfly

butterflies-1-diane-zechman.jpg  A few days ago I mentioned that I had some news and so now I’ll share that with you. I am honored to now be designing for CC Designs (All That Scraps)! This butterfly is one of Christine’s newly released images. And I will have more to share with you over the next few weeks. :) I have to say that I was impressed with the deeply etched rubber and I am looking forward to working with some more ATS images!
This entire card was made with shimmery white cardstock. It is really hard to get a good pic of the shimmer without washing out some details. The butterfly was embossed with white embossing powder and watercolored with Twinkling H2O’s. Then I applied some flat backed pearls that I found at Target. I wish I had picked up more! I was hesitant, unsure of the quality. But they seem to be sticking fine so far. The diagonal striped embossing on the layer beneath the butterfly was made with the Scor-Pal. I *love* my Scor-Pal and use it on every card I make!

welcome baby

Wow- has it really been over a week since I posted? Yikes…sorry about that! Sometimes life just gets busy and you need to take a break. The good news is….my taxes are done! yay.gif I also have some news to share…but maybe I’ll save that for another day. (No, today’s cards have nothing to do with it. LOL!)

Here are 2 more cards with Anna Wight’s Bundle of Joy set. I used my One Sheet Wonder template to make these. I didn’t want a whole sheet of one design though, so I cut my sheet in half and made some for a boy and some for a girl. And I still have leftover pieces!
The images in the scallop circles have some glitter added. And I used the Priceless brass template to pierce some holes. The flourish was used to make some “wind” for the sailboat and the scallop edge was used to make some waves for the duckie.
