Fabulous Flowers gum holder

Published by diane (cookiestamper) at 6:33 pm under 3D and altered art, Stampin' Up!

Recently I received a gum holder in a swap and I knew right away I wanted to try one! I started out designing this for a swap coming up but it was just taking too much time to complete with all the embossing, sponging, cutting, etc. So I made one with a Christmas design instead and I will share that one another time. I started with a piece of 3 1/2 x 9 3/4 cardstock which was scored at 2 1/4, 2 1/2, 6 and 6 1/4. I wheeled the inside with the Leaves Awash Jumbo wheel and folded it on the score lines. (The short side becomes the top flap.) The bottom was punched with the Word Window punch inserted as far as it will go. Next it is folded and attached near the edge (above the opening) with red liner tape. This creates a cute pocket to slip a pack of gum into.
The flower was stamped and heat embossed 3 times onto glossy cardstock. I sponged each one with Rose Red and Pumpkin inks and buffed them with a tissue. The flowers were then cut out and layered with dimensionals. A copper brad was placed in the center and it was mounted over a piece of ribbon. These are so easy to make and can be decorated for any season or occasion.

I love this! The flower is so gorgeous, but sounds like a lot of work! Thanks for posting the directions. I made one of these once and promplty threw away the directions and haven’t a clue where I found it in the first place.

Gosh, this flower is absolutely perfect for this design! How pretty! I got this gum holder in a swap once, too, and made it for a party. So easy and fun! I love your design!

[…] This was my shoebox project for the CNY gathering yesterday. We had a great time, as always! You can find the measurements in the one I posted previously here. […]

[…] And the last pic shows the other 3 projects. The Star Box looks so elegant in red with the red & white stripe paper! You can find directions to make the star box here. The can is a decorated fruit can. Just open the bottom of a pop-top can with a safety can opener, eat the fruit and wash it out. Then fill it with candy or small gifts and glue the lid back onto the bottom with Crystal Effects. And the 3rd one pictured is another gum holder. I have the directions and measurements posted here.
